Small jobs welcome

"They arrived exactly on time for the estimate and the removal. The price for the wallpaper removal and drywall repair was very reasonable. They completed the job cleanly and quickly, including removing and then reinstalling medicine cabinets and a large mirror. They even repaired damage to the drywall that I had done when I tried to remove the drywall myself. I will have them back to do some other ceiling and drywall repair in my home. I recommend them highly!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Most repairs take 1-3 days, depending on drying times for joint compound and paint touch-ups.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.
