"I had the fence in my backyard blown down by Hurricane Debby snapping most of the 4x4 center posts. 3 A's Fencing came to the house and gave me a very reasonable quote. Twelve days later, 3 A's replaced all the center posts, reattached the fence in a few hours and had my fence looking like new. I will hire them again if I need any fencing work in the future."

"Perfect! Garry painted the inside of my house in 2013. The paint price was a little high, but Garry said it will be worth it. He was soooo right! My walls have been, and continue to be, able to be wiped clean. I still did not need my walls touched up. He touched up my baseboards. They had some areas where paint had been chipped off by the vacuum hitting the baseboards, and 3 grandsons’ cars and trucks running into the baseboards. Garry estimated the time to a tea. No surprises:) Garry is coming back this month to do some exterior painting. He is very busy, so book early. He’s definitely worth the wait and competitively priced. Thank you, Garry!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Gainesville, wood, vinyl, and aluminum are top choices for residential fencing due to their resilience in humid conditions. For front yards, the Gainesville Municipal Code often favors wood or masonry for aesthetic consistency, while chain link is typically limited to rear or side yards. Choose materials rated for high moisture and wind resistance, and consult the Building Division for approved fencing types in your neighborhood.

Helpful?

In Gainesville, regular fence maintenance is crucial due to the region's humidity and frequent storms. Wood fences should be sealed or stained annually, while vinyl fences benefit from gentle cleaning to prevent mildew. After major weather events, inspect for storm damage and repair promptly to stay compliant with city codes. The Building Division recommends periodic checks to ensure your fence remains safe and up to code.

Helpful?

Before installing a fence in Gainesville, review the Gainesville Municipal Code for height and setback rules, confirm your property boundaries with a recent survey, and discuss your plans with neighbors to prevent disputes. Secure all necessary permits from the Building Division and, if applicable, approval from Public Works. Scheduling required inspections early helps avoid project delays and ensures compliance with local regulations.

Helpful?

In Gainesville, common mistakes include neglecting to obtain required permits from the Building Division, using materials unsuited for local weather, and misjudging property lines. Homeowners sometimes skip mandatory inspections, risking fines or removal orders. Consulting the Gainesville Municipal Code and coordinating with Public Works before starting helps you avoid costly setbacks and ensures your fencing project meets all local requirements.

Helpful?

In Gainesville, most fencing projects require a permit from the Building Division, especially if the fence exceeds 6 feet in height or is located within a public right-of-way. The process includes submitting detailed site plans and undergoing inspections. For fences near streets or sidewalks, approval from Gainesville Public Works may also be necessary. Always consult the Gainesville Municipal Code and local authorities before starting your project.
