Todd Orie, the owner of A Certified Screen Service, Inc. began his career in the aluminum industry at the age of 14, when he began working at his father's aluminum company in Orlando. While working for his father, Todd gained first hand knowledge of the aluminum industry and installation of all home improvement products that the company carried. Todd became a State Certified Building Contractor in 1987. In 1990 Todd decided to start his own aluminum contracting company. Later the company was expanded to include service to service their customers on the East Coast, with the opening of a 3200 square foot sale and service facility in Port Orange. His wife JoEllen, of over 20 years started an active role in the accounting department in 1995. In 2003 they completed the 3 year building project of A Certified Screen Service located at 560 S. "They were excellent. When I first called, Tiara told me up front that they had about a 10 week lead time. I said ok, and she had a guy out in 2 days to measure. He was very professional and went over the different types of screen and how they could fix the gutter. We got a quote which was in line with the screen calculators I found on the net. I asked if they could do it any sooner because 2 of the screens were damaged and no matter how hard I tried, one if my cats managed to find a way out at night. So Tiara said she'd move us up if she could. Yeah! 3 weeks later Ricky and Sean showed up. They went above and beyond. Our lanai was a mess. I had put up this temporary fencing and wired it up to keep the cat in. And it hadn't been power washed in an age. It had all this black mold. They took everything down, cleaned everything til it was bright white, put 2 splices in the gutters, cleaned the pad, rescreened, and cleaned up after themselves. It took 2 days and they really worked hard. It is so nice to be able to use my lanai again. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Thanks A-Certified! ??"

I believe American Window does not have the capability/expertise/employees to handle large projects such as mine. They are probably ok to use if you need 1-2 windows or a door that’s not too complicated. Project cost was $30K+ and was a complete nightmare from the start. The salesman lost the $10k deposit check which should have been a sign to find someone else. The 3-4 day project took several months due order mistakes, improper measuring, poor installation and manufacturing defects which required ordering new windows. To this day 1 door is still not right and it irritates me every time I look at it. My mistake for paying in full before things were corrected. I contacted the owner several times for resolution but received nothing but excuses. I usually research contractors in detail when planning a home improvement project but this time I failed. Don’t be me. I learned a great deal from this project and I hope my review helps others avoid a similar fate."

Finally very excited when they told us this morning (saturday) that a technician would be here between two and four pm. Technician never showed up! I called 3 times requesting an update as to when the technician would arrive?and never even had the courtesy of a return phone call! If you call after hours, it goes to a call center somewhere in the United States! I called another company, 1 Hour AirConditioning in Daytona Beach, Fl. and they will be here tomorrow. Not only will they be here but texted me the info! Total Comfort kiss our 15 year old relationship goodbye! And Jason, you need to up your game."

We also specialize in retrofitting homes with hurricane straps/clips, windows and doors to strengthen homes for potential damage and lower homeowners insurance premiums.

"The problem with the roof leak has been taken care of by Florida Retrofits. Unfortunately it became an issue, but in the end the problem was solved to my satisfaction Unfortunately this company has forced me to write this negative review. I had a roof installed 4 years ago. Since that time I have had a stubborn leak. This leak was the entire reason I had a new roof installed and this company assured me that it would be taken care of. This particular fix was explicitly written into the contract. Guess what, they did not do this work. So for 4 years I have been trying to get them to honor this contract. No go. Now they send me an outrageous quote to do work they were supposed to do in the first place. I even offered them some money to take the sting away. Pretty poor... I feel bad that this would cost them money to fix, but they had their chance when they first did the work and chose not to to it properly per the contract. Once again, even though this was in writing I am on the hook for this. Now I have to hire another contractor and hope to sue them for my money. Stupid business practice... I am not considered a complainer when it comes to contractors, I used to be one myself, but this is unacceptable.."
