"Very well. The removal of old plantings was done quickly and removal of all debris and site clean-up was quick and thorough. The new plantings are much more appropriate for the house and property. The accent lighting is very attractive and the sprinkler system is working like new and keeping the new plants alive. I am looking forward to the replacement of the concrete driveway with pavers later this month. This is the last phase of the work requested."

"From start to finish A-One did an amazing job. Amy was able to come right out and give me a very fair quote for the install of a new driveway apron. Her communication throughout the job process was excellent. Travis and his crew (Anthony and his assistant) showed up bright and early on the scheduled day and got right to work. They explained everything before starting and confirmed that their plan met my expectations. The job went off without a hitch. Anthony and his assistant were very polite and personable. The job site was kept clean and tidy and when they were finished the only evidence they were there was the completed job. I can t say enough about A One. I will continue to recommend them and absolutely would hire them again if needed."

Customers say: True professional

"This contractor was able to pour the concrete slabs for me as well as build a 30 x 26’ garage. Everything was to our standards and took time, but it came out great matching her house. The entire crew and management was very respectful and kind. I plan on using them again in the future for my future projects, pouring concrete and gazebo patio build."

"Sgt. Stripes Asphalt did a fantastic job. I am in Kentucky and the job was in Georgia. They were very efficient, communicated with me. They did the job on the weekend so there would not be any traffic in and out of Post-Office parking lot. Their customer service and work great. I would definitely recommend them."

"I met with Bob D who after looking at my driveway and determining what type of materials it consisted of advised my that my driveway was in good shape and that sealing it would not prolong the life at all, which was my main reason for wanting the driveway sealed. Bob further stated that he would be happy to give me an estimate to seal the driveway but in his opinion I would be wasting my money and advised against it.  It would have been quite easy for Bob to have simply given me an estimate, hoping that I would hire Concrete Works to do job for me so I can't say enough about his honesty and integrity.  Bob actually got up earlier than usual that morning to drive to my house from the other side of town before going to his first job site to fit looking at my driveway into his busy schedule. It was refreshing to find a contractor these days that would take the time to explain in detail why you would be wasting you money to perform a requested service. Based on my positive experience with Bob in addition to all of the positive reviews I found on their quality of work during my research, I would highly recommend Concrete Works.

"I can't say enough--atlas did an amazing job on our driveway and walkways. Work was well done, done on time (once the manufacturer delays were done), and done for the quoted price despite a few alterations in plan. The pavers look so good, I think we are doing our pool deck next year."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. Hiring a driveway professional to pave it will ensure that your driveway looks neat and clean and lasts for years to come, and it will also prevent a weak driveway and, potentially, damage to your foundation. Paving a driveway requires heavy machinery, and while you can rent the equipment needed, operating it close to your garage slab or around your home’s foundation can crack it and lead to structural issues.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.
