"Very happy with Solar First. We went with a 10kw system which came out to 25 panels for one of my homes in St. Pete. I opted for the battery storage system as well. Since the install (which took 1 day), I look at power outages completely differently. The last power outage was a breeze. I could use my AC and two refrigerators full of food didn’t spoil like it did during Hurricane Ian (before I had solar). I also didn’t have to leave my home. I even housed a few neighbors who needed a cool place to sleep, recharge their devices, call their family members, etc. I think three of my neighbors are also going with Solar First since that experience. I certainly recommended them around the neighborhood."

Beautiful, discreet design favoring the Southern facing roof for optimal exposure.
A slight gap between the roof surface and panel is the optimal design to allow air to pass beneath preventing the house from warming as a result of the panels.
Designed to meet the energy needs of the home and its owner.

"On 2/24/17 I had Florida Solar Design Group install solar panels and update my existing pumping equipment to heat my pool. Since that time I have been able to enjoy my pool almost on a daily basis as a result. Not only is this system Environmentally Friendly, I don`t have that annoying sound of my electrical meter spinning at WARP speed. I am extremely pleased with the investment I have made. The Sales and Installation teams were top-notch and had my system up and running within 2 days of their start of the project. I would NOT hesitate to give Florida Solar Design Group a recommendation for use to anyone in the future."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

The actual time it takes to construct the solar farm is relatively short, taking between 2 and 4 months on average. That timeline is dependent on site conditions, crew size, and the overall size of the solar farm.

However, the time it takes to get the ball rolling is significantly longer, ranging from 3 to 5 years. With a project of this scale, you’ll need to obtain all of the proper permits and approvals to start breaking ground, and depending on your location, that could be an extended process.

The morning sun can be better for solar panels because it’s often brighter and clearer than the afternoon sun. The brighter the sun, the more energy solar panels produce. The strongest rays occur during midday, which tends to be prime time for solar energy generation. Most homes get a mix of morning and afternoon sunlight.

In most cases, installing solar panels will not void your roof warranty. To keep roof warranties intact, check your written warranty or call the manufacturer to ask about clauses regarding roof penetrations. You can also protect yourself by getting written approval or a modified warranty that specifically allows the solar installation type you’re planning. Then, hire a professional solar installer that follows roofing manufacturer instructions and protects the roof during installation.

Solar roofing shingles may qualify for significant federal tax incentives through programs like the Residential Clean Energy Credit, which offers up to 30% of installation costs through 2032. State and local governments often provide additional credits, and utility companies may offer further rebates or net metering programs, depending on the state. Just look into the qualification requirements beforehand because installation, documentation, and technical standards can impact eligibility. Consult the current guidelines and a tax professional to maximize available benefits.

The average cost to install solar panels is around $27,000, with most homeowners paying between $4,500 and $54,000. These prices don’t consider the federal investment tax credit (ITC), which can reduce costs by up to 30%. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of the system needed to offset your energy consumption, the amount of sunlight your home receives, your geographical location, the type and brand of panels, labor costs, and any add-on products like solar batteries or electric vehicle (EV) chargers. It is recommended to get price quotes from at least three solar companies in your area to find the best deal.
