"JL Drywall responded after hours and gave me a quote the next morning! Very responsive and awesome follow thru. Job was completed as quoted and on time. Going to recommend them to my Bathroom installer who -by the way doesn’t do “Drywall” even when they quoted knocking down a pony wall!! Would recommend John to anyone who needs Drywall done right!"

"Shane’s Drywall Repair and Painting LLC was top-tier from start to finish. His communication was excellent and the professionalism showed immediately. I submitted a service request and he contacted me and came out to give a quote in less than 24 hours for a drywall repair caused by a plumbing leak in my garage ceiling. Not only that, he was able to complete the repair the very next day. He arrived on time and did a phenomenal job. Shane went above and beyond by cleaning up the mess left behind by the plumber and even washed my driveway, which I truly appreciated. The final result looks amazing. He perfectly matched the knockdown texture, which I know can be difficult to replicate. My ceiling now looks like nothing ever happened. I highly recommend Shane’s Drywall Repair and Painting LLC and will absolutely hire them again."

"I was in need of a handyman ASAP and was just requesting help through online platforms. Jared was a God send. He stays so busy and booked, but my request on Angi's List just so happened to slip through. He was able to come out same day due to some scheduling changes. He arrived in a timely manner, got the job done, and was very pleasant to deal with. I HIGHLY recommend him for any of your needs and I definitely will keep him on the top of my list for any future needs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.

While not always necessary, you can glue a drywall ceiling in addition to using screws or nails. Drywall is typically secured to ceiling joists with fasteners, which is often sufficient. However, adding construction adhesive can offer benefits like preventing sagging, bridging gaps, and reducing air leaks for better energy efficiency. It may also be used for specific acoustic or insulation needs. On the other hand, many professionals advise against it because properly placed screws make the drywall structural, glue doesn't add strength, and it makes future repairs or replacements significantly more difficult. Ultimately, it's best to follow local building codes and project-specific requirements to decide if adhesive is right for your ceiling.

Popular wall textures include orange peel, knockdown, spray sand, and smooth finishes. Orange peel and knockdown are particularly common choices for drywall as they are simple and cost-effective. Orange peel texture has a lightly bumpy surface resembling the skin of an orange, while knockdown (sometimes called knockout) looks like a stucco finish with flattened high spots. In contrast, popcorn texture has fallen out of fashion, partly due to its past association with asbestos and a shift toward more restrained interior design styles.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

Yes, taping inside corners is a critical step in the drywall installation process.  Properly taping inside corners is essential for achieving a professional look, and an installation that resists cracking and maintains its integrity over time. Taping the corners involves the application of a joint compound along the seam where two drywall pieces meet. This process provides reinforcement, conceals the seam, and prevents future gaps or cracks from developing.
