"JL Drywall responded after hours and gave me a quote the next morning! Very responsive and awesome follow thru. Job was completed as quoted and on time. Going to recommend them to my Bathroom installer who -by the way doesn’t do “Drywall” even when they quoted knocking down a pony wall!! Would recommend John to anyone who needs Drywall done right!"

"We received several quotes for this work and they were very reasonable. and had excellent reviews. I must agree with the reviews as the work was done on time, professionally, and extremely neat. Popcorn removal and finishing drywall is very dusty. They were able to contain it in the rooms and cleaned up afterwards to make it easy on us. Finally, it is very difficult to find subcontractors that show up on time and complete the project according to schedule. They were fantastic about this. We would definitely use their services again."

"Don and Jennifer came out and walked the home, listened to my requirements, made suggestions and submitted a quote that I was very pleased with.

While the estimated time frame for the job was 2 weeks, the actual detail and complexity of the job drove the completion time to almost 3 weeks. Not a complaint, it just took more time to redo the complete interior.

Up until the end of the job, Spectrum Painting had an A+ and overall they are great, flexible, high integrity, very responsive and probably the best you'll get for residential painting the clean-up process left me a little disappointed.

Some of the work required re-texturing walls and they use a little splatter gun to shoot new painted texture on walls. I had over-spray on several surfaces and some furniture. Nothing was permanently stained but with such a great technical painting job, such attention to detail, such a willingness to cooperate and please, I was surprised that my complaints for a better clean-up went in one ear and out the other. it was essentially pushed back to me.

My expectation was to put the paint on the walls, and if you painted anything other than the walls- YOU clean it up,.

But, everything looks great, the splatter did not permanently damage anything but the ending to the project did not match the overall quality of the service and the great paint job.

So guys, the score dropped a little, Maybe you should build a day of 3rd party cleanup into the price if it is a boring and thankless job that you do not care to do?????"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

To properly clean and maintain your skip trowel drywall texture, dust the surface weekly with an electrostatic duster or vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Never scrub the surface. You can remove stains by gently applying a mild detergent solution with a paint roller, removing it with a damp roller, and drying with a dry roller. To cut down on cleaning frequency, avoid indoor smoking and limit the use of fireplaces.

A local drywall contractor can texture your drywall for you. Drywall contractors are a better choice than general handy people because the contractors have a lot of experience working with drywall mud. The process is somewhat of an art thanks to the complexity of working with the mud, so call in a drywall pro who knows what they’re doing.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall. If you’re still unsure, ask a drywall professional to let you know which type of ceilings and walls you have.

Yes, taping inside corners is a critical step in the drywall installation process.  Properly taping inside corners is essential for achieving a professional look, and an installation that resists cracking and maintains its integrity over time. Taping the corners involves the application of a joint compound along the seam where two drywall pieces meet. This process provides reinforcement, conceals the seam, and prevents future gaps or cracks from developing.

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.
