Small jobs welcome

"Tim and his team were incredibly fast to respond to our work request. They remained flexible on timing and were proactive in communication during the whole project. I really appreciated the no BS mentality as they were very upfront and honest with their pricing and work from the beginning. They even stayed late to finish the project within the proposed timeframe and came back at no additional charge to make sure the completed flooring install was exactly as expected. I recommend these guys for any flooring project as they are the best value around for the quality work! Would hire again for any flooring needs in a heartbeat."

"Iâ ve never seen anyone take as much pride in their craft as Mickey does. I had vinyl plank pulled up in 2 bathrooms and had them tiled. He broke every step down to me and when unexpected things popped up (like the crack in the slab), he fixed the problem rather than just hiding it with mortar. I will definitely use him again on all flooring projects and I would recommend the same to anyone in the area needing flooring or tile backsplash."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Squeaking floors don’t usually pose an immediate safety risk. It can be the result of normal settlement, changes in humidity, or natural wear. Uneven or warped floors do pose a trip risk, so you should call a pro for a repair. This is especially true if you notice visible signs of rot or deterioration. Rarely, a creaking floor can signal structural issues, but there are usually other signs.

Yes, water coming up from the floor should be treated as an emergency. If you're unable to either identify or stop the source of the water on your own, contact an emergency plumber right away. In addition to harming your flooring, standing or pooled water can lead to water-damaged concrete.

Door transitions can work with virtually any flooring type; however, different transition strips lend themselves better to specific flooring types. For instance, if you are bridging the gap between a taller floor, like carpet, to a shorter floor, like hardwood, then you will want a transition strip with a slight slope to bridge the height difference. These transition strips are called reducer molding. On the other hand, if you are bridging two floors of the same height, you can use flat transition strips, such as T-strips and seam binders.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Most DIYers can learn how to remove carpet although it’s time and labor-intensive. However, if you have glued-down carpet and are concerned about damaging the substrate below, it's best to call a professional carpet remover. Also, removing glue-down carpet is more work than dealing with wall-to-wall carpet because you have to get rid of all traces of the adhesive from your subfloor to prepare it for a new installation.
