Small jobs welcome

"We hired JL Drywall and Construction Unlimited LLC to install drywall in a kitchen that'd been torn out down to the studs. Hiring John's company has been one of the best decisions that we've made. We scheduled an appointment for an estimate and John showed up on time. The scope of work was discussed and John sent us a quote the following business day. He worked in the home for 3 days. Each day he showed up exactly when he said he'd be there. Prior to starting the work, he taped paper on the floors in order to protect them. He worked diligently, cleaning up along the way. His prep work, applying mud to the drywall seams and over the screws, was impeccable. He also fixed several areas where work had previously been improperly done. Every wall that he worked on is now perfect! If you need drywall work, popcorn removal, or painting, I urge you to consider hiring JL Drywall and Construction Unlimited LLC for the job. His work is beautiful, he shows up when he says he will, he communicates"

"Where do I begin? Obviously, when you decide to do a major project or renovation, you are apprehensive. Thatâ s why you go to Angieâ s list to try to save yourself some grief. We received three quotes and decided to go with Painter1 not only because theyâ re pricing, but also because Dionne was very personable and professional, taking many notes and pictures as we walked around our house describing what we wanted. The entire process couldnâ t have been better. The foreman, Gary, was amazing and so was Jose. They kept in constant contact, letting us know what they were doing each step of the process. They took their time meticulously power washing, taping, and prepping. They used the highest quality paint without watering it down like our home builder originally did and applied two even coats. We even inquired about having some drywall installed in our garage and they got it done in a day. They can definitely do more than just paint! At the end of each day, the painters made sure to clean up after themselves and store their equipment neatly out of the way. Dionne would swing by periodically to make sure everything was on track and that we were happy with the process. Needless to say, we were thrilled with Painter1â s work all around. It was amazing to see our house go from extremely faded to vibrant and beautiful as it was several years ago. We are proud of our home once again. So if you have any doubts, please take this review to heart and choose Painter1 of Daphne. Theyâ re an amazing team!"

"Robert showed up and we went over expectations and what he coukd realistically complete. He made sure we got the biggest bang for our buck and did a top notch job on each task! My jobs were all over the map to prepare for for a home sale, and he excelled at each task! Thank you, Robert for all your hard work! I have subsequently hired him a second time and have already scoped out some additional work, as well as referring him to others. He completed backsplash tiles, mulching my yard, painting my stairwell, thresholds fir doors, and drywall and sanding just to name the major tasks."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether to repair or replace water-damaged plaster depends on the scale of the damage. For small, limited areas, you can often perform a repair yourself. If you choose to paint over small patches, ensure the surface is completely dry and apply a coat of antifungal primer first to prevent mold growth. However, simply painting or plastering over the damage is only a temporary solution that doesn't address the core problem. For more extensive or long-term damage, the plaster may be compromised, and there is a risk of mold. In these cases, it is recommended to remove the damaged section of plasterboard and replace it. You may consider hiring a professional for the repair, and it's worth noting that water damage is often covered by home insurance.

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.

Regular dusting, occasional repainting, and avoiding harsh scrubbing preserve the finish.

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.
