"First - hire Keith & I hope you read the rest. If you live in the Keys, you know contacting a plumber on the weekend is almost impossible. I had a water leak that was turning into a serious situation. He came over and stopped it quickly. Once he figured out what was causing it we agreed to have the shower plumbing repaired and the fixtures replaced. Then, because Home Depot would not install the new dishwasher because of old plumbing, Keith suggested he could do it. On the same day, he fixed the shower, repaired the sink plumbing, installed the dishwasher along with a new faucet & disposal. Keep in mind that this is an old house with old plumbing, appliances, etc. Keith was incredible. Incredibly competent and great to work with. If I were you - I'd choose him first. Thanks for everything Keith!"

"Work was done ok however, on follow up when I wanted lines drawn in parking area, no one responded to multiple calls. As a client, even IF they were not available to do this part of the job, I deserved a return call. Had there been a problem, I’m concerned that they would not have responded to that either. Poor communication is the reason for low ratings"

"He was awesome.  He called back, but he was working in Reed field, North Carolina and he could not get to us for a couple of days.  By the time, he got to us we had already gotten the other estimates, and we were pleased with him.  Hampton guy was great.  He was really quick to get back to us, but he had other projects that he had already lined up.  The experience was very satisfactory.  He was very courteous, and prompt.  He was very honest in saying that he cannot get to us, and if we needed to have this work done now, then we need to have to get somebody else.  I appreciated that."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Underfloor insulation alone will not cause moisture and mold, but improper installation can. Although the purpose is to seal any drafts, your subfloor still needs ventilation. If you seal the area too tightly and prevent all airflow, this can cause moisture to get trapped. This moisture eventually leads to mold and—if your floors are wood—rotting.

In most cases, yes, because the large majority of basements leak or will have moisture issues at some point, and waterproofing methods can mitigate that risk or eliminate it entirely. Plus, water and moisture issues can be quite problematic, as they can lead to mold growth, rotting of building materials, structural damage, poor indoor air quality, increased electric bills, and other problems.

In nearly all cases, you are required to install a vapor barrier in your crawl space. However, local regulations will change based on the local climate and the crawl space's susceptibility to moisture. Even if a vapor barrier is not legally required, it is often a good idea to keep your crawl space dry.

As the first layer of water protection for your roof deck and the building materials below, underlayment is designed to prevent water damage, so it’s okay if it gets wet. However, you shouldn’t rely solely on underlayment for protection. If rain interrupts your roof project and you have all of the underlayment down, you’ll likely be fine, but you should install shingles over that layer as soon as possible, as long-term exposure can lead to water damage.

It’s not the number of weep holes that should be of concern to builders but rather their spacing. Weep holes are usually spaced anywhere between 16 inches on center when using round tubes or wicking materials and 24 inches on center when using open-head joints. This is a more conservative spacing than the 33-inch maximum spacing on center that’s mentioned in the International Residential Code. All in all, the total number of weep holes a brick exterior should have will depend on the size of the structure.
