"Messaged a different Angie's List business early Sunday morning, but never heard from them, so I decided to call H&W at 8:12 am on Monday.  They were very pleasant and committed to have a technician come to my home within the hour.  The technician showed up within the promised time and completed his diagnostic work and repair work within an hour or so.  The most important thing is that I felt confident that I would not have another sweltering night of poor sleep.  I sincerely appreciate all aspects of this local business and will not hesitate to call on them in the future for all my A/C and heating needs.  Thanks very much...my home has been comfortably cool since Monday evening."

"The install of the mini-split went great. It was done on time, and a professional job was done. The mini-split solved the problem of it being warmer in the master bedroom and bathroom. I would definitely hire this company again and highly recommend this business."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

If your boiler is 20 years old, it’s time to get a new one. Although it may seem to be working fine, it’s likely eating up more fuel than it should. Also, compared to a brand-new boiler, one that’s 20 years old is probably not working as well. When you get your new unit, you’ll notice that your home is heating more quickly, and the heat is consistent throughout all the rooms.

Depending on the size of your home and system, as well as any upgrades or add-ons you choose, it may take between three and five days to completely replace an existing HVAC system from start to finish. Your contractor should be able to give you an estimate before they begin the actual replacement.

The best way to compare HVAC quotes is getting a few detailed quotes from local companies with good reputations. Then, go over the quotes line by line. Protect yourself by insisting on in-person estimates that include equipment manufacturer names, model numbers, SEER ratings, amounts and numbers of materials, details of warranties on equipment and labor, and other specifics.

Knowing the exact equipment and materials is the only way that you can fairly compare quotes. Quotes that are much lower than others can be a sign that the company isn’t providing the best quality service or materials.

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.

Professional HVAC installation requires licensed expertise in several areas, including electrical- and plumbing-related work. An HVAC team must know how to safely handle regulated refrigerant chemicals and the gas, oil, or propane used in furnaces and boilers. A proper HVAC installation protects your home from energy loss, fires, and even carbon monoxide leaks.
