"This company is awesome!!! I had a very big tree, that for years companies have come out to trim it only leaving it worse. This tree partly hung over my house and shed. 1 company dropped some on my shed and hit the rain gutters on my house. Chris came to give me an estimate and was able to squeeze me in within 2 weeks. This crew was able to get the tree down, not hit anything, cleaned the yard afterwards. They worked hard all day, and the teamwork was fantastic!! Very professional, down to earth, great people. I am a bit picky, and they exceeded my expectations. For years I worried about this tree and one phone call to Enselys took care of the issue. Do yourself a favor and call them for your Tree service needs."

"Crimson Bay did a beautiful job cleaning up my existing landscaping areas. They took out the old stones & washed them. They pulled up the old plastic & leveled out the ground underneath, removed moss from the concrete wall, added a weed deterrent, laid down new landscaping paper, & put the cleaned stones back & added edging. They were professional, polite, & worked diligently. I thought the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend them."

"workmanship was perfect. Excellent job in removing tree and returning to clean up yard. Good value for the money - excellent equipment and workers were well trained. They need to improve on communications with customer, though. I expected a call or indication of exactly when they would arrive and what they would be doing each day."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is essential to confirm that any tree service company you hire is properly insured before they begin work. Tree removal, trimming, and pruning are dangerous jobs, and proper insurance protects you, your home, and the company from liability in case of accidents or damage. Look for a company that carries both general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and do not hire one that cannot provide proof of coverage. When browsing for professionals, you can look for indicators like an “Angi Approved” badge, which signifies that the business meets standards like holding applicable licenses and passing a background check. Keep in mind that a license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are typically voluntary.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

Unfortunately, if you cut the top off a palm tree, it will die. Instead of budding or branching out, the top begins to slowly rot. That's why having a professional tree trimming at least twice a year is a good idea. If you don’t have experience with trimming your palm tree, you might accidentally cut the top off, leaving a dead and rotting tree in your wake.
