I am all about first impressions and since the first time we spoke over the phone I had nothing but a good experience. He was very professional and understood my time concerns (We signed the contract a few days before we left for a week vacation and the inspection needed to be completed within a certain number of days). After several communications, we were able to find a time that worked for both our schedules and he came out to complete the home inspection. He provided us with a binder with information for the new home and how to maintain it. It also provides us a nice organized place to keep our paperwork for what we need for future reference down the line. Although I felt like I was being pesky and asking a lot of questions, he was so calm and answered every one of my questions. He was very thorough taking his time going through the home. I don't feel like the price was too bad as he also had an exterminator come out and also did a radon test, which was all included. Although he did not find many issues, which is fantastic (the house is very well maintained), I feel more comfortable with our purchase and definitely recommend his services! The inspector caught alot of issues with the house. One of the issues was high levels of radon gas in the basement level. Another issue was a gas leak from the pipping to the furnace. We smelled the gas odor as soon as we entered the basement. The inspector noticed the original homeowners didn't maintain the roof and had about 3 layers of shingles and it was due time for a roof replacement. He also noticed the foundation was repatched due to leaks. He is very knowledgeable and would recommend using him. He is also a registered professional engineer which gives him more credential than a regular home inspector. It went well! Aside from the sticker shock of the cost of shop-hours to repair, I believe I received good value for my dollar. I believe that I could have had the same services performed cheaper if I shopped around more, but the Pep Boys brand and their convenience was compelling enough. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. The repairs appear to have been properly made, and I never detected any sales pitch for unneeded repairs or services. Being a bit presumptuous on my end, I showed up early to pick up my vehicle anticipating completion of my repairs to discover that the air-conditioning compressor they replaced was defective. The manager offered me a ride home which I declined. Estimates for these repairs were slightly higher at other repair facilities, and I doubt I would have had the same individual attention. Wendy was my service rep with an assist by Carlos. Dave was the manager, and Levi completed the transaction when I eventually picked up my Tahoe. Nobody likes to spend a heap of dough on auto repairs, but I would go back to this Pep Boys for more repairs. One other comment, as is the case with a chain store, I would have rather had DELCO parts instead of Bosch, but about 9-months ago I had my fuel pump replaced similarly, and that has been trouble-free, so who's to say if Bosch is any less dependable. Another comment, I wanted to save the old parts as a learning experience, and I requested same. Unfortunately, that did not occur, but my satisfaction level remains high. Their corporate slogan is "Plumbers to the rescue". That held true for me. Initially I called a larger company (their colors are orange and blue). They told me that the entire water pipe needs to be replaced. I did not even inquire about the cost of that. Plumb Medics provided me a second...

"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts
If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.
Properties should ideally be tested for radon every 2 to 5 years or sooner when changes to the property structure or ventilation occur that might impact airflow.
Testing typically costs between $150 and $500, depending on the method used and the number of areas tested.
Yes, radon testing is absolutely necessary if you suspect the presence of this hazardous gas, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends testing for all homes in the country. Radon is a pervasive natural gas that can leak through your home’s foundation and seep into the living areas. Unfortunately, the gas is highly carcinogenic and is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon testing is crucial for keeping you and your family safe from harm, so hire a radon mitigation specialist to test your home if you suspect its presence in your home.
Costs depend on property size, test types, and additional services like mold sampling.
