"Stephen installed 2 bathroom exhaust fans for me. He arrived when he said he would. He kept me informed of any changes he needed to make in our plan and waited for my agreement before proceeding. Overall, he did a great job."

"I hired Brett, the owner of Bright Electrical Solutions, to address an issue with a breaker that kept tripping. He replaced the breaker and also replaced one of the outlets with a GFCI reset outlet. Brett was professional from beginning to end. He was punctual and took the time to clearly explain to my husband and me what he replaced and why. Because of the excellent service we received, I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends if they ever need an electrician. We now have an electrician we trust, and I will be seeing him again in two to three weeks to replace our ceiling fans.. Andrea E."

"I called the owner Dan to ask about doing a free estimate to replace a broken ceiling light in my son's bedroom, replace a broken ceiling light fixture in my kids' bathroom, and to try to repair some recessed lights above my stove that were falling out of their housing. Dan called me back the same day and we set up a day for the estimate. Dan arrived 10 minutes early that day, spent 45 minutes going through the jobs, and told me he'd email me an estimate later that day. Good to his word, I received the estimate and was satisfied with his price ($360). We made an appointment for him and his assistant to come out and do the work. Dan and Brandon were 20 minutes early for the appointment, set to work right away, set up drop cloths, and got all three jobs done in about 2.5 hours. We chatted here and there so it probably took a few minutes longer than it would have if we hadn't been having such an enjoyable conversation. When they were finished, we walked around outside and discussed a few more jobs I may be interested in having them do, and they left.
Dan and Brandon are incredibly nice, honest and hardworking guys. They do what they say they're going to do, they consulted me when they wanted to show me something, and they were just great guys. I will absolutely use them whenever I need more electrical work done. They also do pond landscaping and maintenance, so I may have them restore our pond to its original functional and aesthetic state."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.

Essential tools for ceiling fan installation include a ladder, screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, and a circuit tester. If the ceiling is angled or features unique configurations, ensure the availability of a compatible mounting bracket.

For a 12x12 room, a fan between 36" and 50" will work, as it falls in the range for spaces up to 144 square feet. These size fans provide adequate air circulation and ensure a comfortable environment without being overpowering. Even better, they come in a broad range of styles, offering aesthetics and functionality, making them suitable choices for maintaining an ideal room temperature and enhancing overall comfort.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.
