Facts: contacted company to schedule service. Two weeks before electrician would arrive. Electricians arrived on time. Review electrical problems with technicians (two showed up). Left electricians to survey the home's electrical system. Met with electricians about current immediate problem. Agreed that the state of the system required someone specializing in old homes with legacy electrical wiring. Technicians informed me they had someone on staff who could survey the home and provide solutions to remedy the existing problem and possible overhaul of the system. They said they would escalate the problem to the appropriate person. I asked when is a reasonable time to wait before hearing back from the company. They said by the end of the week. I asked again how long to hear back - thinking that the end of the week was optimistic since it took them two weeks to get to the house. They said again by the end of the week. I waited until the following Wednesday and after not hearing anything from them left a review on the company website. Later that day a manager contacted me to discuss my review. NOT to discuss the possibility of getting someone out to the house but specifically the review. He stated a technician called me the day after the technicians were at the house. I have a smartphone they record ALL incoming and outgoing phone numbers. NO number from anyone I didn't know showed up in the phone log. NONE. And if he had called and received no answer NO one from the office bothered to follow up either by phone or by email or by text message. To the people at Oliver, welcome to the 21-century. How about using some the technology available to you for something besides swiping my credit card for the "arrival fee". DO NOT HIRE this company for ANYTHING! And BTW, another company I contacted for the same issue has sent me three text messages to follow up on the appointment that hasn't even happened yet. And I didn't have to wait two weeks to get on the schedule. Oliver, take a hint!

They came out do do an estimate at 9 PM for a window of between 12 & 8. When I STARTED to describe the problem to the technician, he said in a raised voice and while pointing a finger at me "I'm sensing an attitude from you. You better stop." Voice raised, finger pointed. I asked him to lower his voice and he said "I'll raise my voice with you if I want to!" - still in a raised voice and wagging his finger. I said, "not in my house. Please leave." "I'll leave when I want to" was the response. I had to repeat my request for him to leave several times before he left. When he finally left, my daughter came out of her room and said: "What was that? I could hear him yelling at you!" If I could give them a zero, I would. I've never been treated so poorly by someone who was supposed to help me solve a problem in all my life!

Oliver has become the next Horizon, all about sales pitches. I called about having my water heater checked after the hurricane and when the tech arrived he asked if the pilot was lid, when I responded I don’t know he copped an attitude “well I have to charge you.” No kidding Sherlock! I didn’t call for your sales pitch! And when I spoke to Scott the plumbing manager he was more concerned about there policy of telling me how they charge. Scott thank you and your tech...I will be taking my business elsewhere. Shame on you. I’ll pay someone else to look at it.

Do not use this company. I had a big problem with them last year which resulted by them creating a flood my basement. However, I called them again for another issue as their costumer services are good. Big mistake. The technician arrived at 5:45 for a service call that was scheduled 12:00-5:00 without even calling to let us know that he would be arriving well after the scheduled 5 hour window. He was extremely rude to us in addition to leaving a mess by the furnace. He diagnosed the problem and charged us $2,300 to order parts and fix it the next day. We didn't trust him (for good reason) and they sent out a supervisor the following day to look at the job again. Indeed the 1st technician had misdiagnosed the problem and the motor was working. The new price was $1,600 (rather than $2,300). I thought that this way too high. Used Angie's List to get other quotes which I shared with Oliver. They were all less than 1/2 the price that Oliver quoted me (for the same parts, labor and guarantee. I ended up paying $800. Oliver takes advantage of desperate consumers by overcharging and misdiagnosing. I will never use them again and have shared my story with others.

Tech was on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. He completed a basic check of the entire system, but did not try to upsell me on something I didn't need. The labor fee on the part seems high, but consistent with competitors.

While we were happy we got a prompt response, we were not happy with the service or the price. The technician that came reeked of smoke. He worked on the HVAC unit for 25 min to replace the gas valve. He went up to the thermostat to find out it still wasn't working. Turns out he put the OLD gas valve in, not the NEW gas valve so he had to do the work a 2nd time. All of the sudden I'm smelling A LOT of gas. I questioned the technician and he said "Yeah I forgot to seal off the pipe and gas got out but it's not dangerous to your health." Seriously? I couldn't believe they charged us $647 for this ordeal which was all labor because our unit is under warranty!! The next time we lost heat we hired a local company and the charge was only $125 so we now have a service contract with them. When I called Oliver customer service the manager did not seem to care about our concerning technician and instead, just tried to sell me their service agreement. Um, why would I want to have a service agreement with a company that I do not trust and overcharges?

George from Oliver arrived on time and was very professional as we talked. He quickly identified some challenges with our existing system, and we had a good conversation about how best to approach. We also agreed on some options for him to provide a quote to begin work. The next day, George called me and said that the organization had elected not to move forward with the work due to the complexity, and because they don't do much work in downtown Philadelphia any more. I don't think I've ever had this happen. My recommendation would be not to engage Oliver for anything but more straightforward jobs, and people in metro Philadelphia should consider companies with more city experience.

This was the fifth project that I have used Oliver to complete in my home. They have always done an excellent job and when there is a problem they respond quickly to address it. Many of the people who work for Oliver have been there for decades. The guys who completed this project for me had 21 and 25 years of experience each. My salesman Dan who came out to estimate the job has been with Oliver for 25 years. The projected ended up taking two days of work when it was estimated to be completed in one. They also had to run the line set in a difficult manner through my kitchen pantry closet (think very tight space). They made every effort to accommodate how I wanted the project finished and everything was done right. Once all of the installation was compete they had a guy come out to build a soffit around the line set and paint it. My closet looks better then it did when they started the work. All of the additional labor and finish work was included with my original price. Oliver is an ethical and honest company, when they give you an estimate that is what you will pay - period. They also include a guarantee that if you are not happy with the system they will remove it and refund your purchase price. I am very happy with the quality of work done and how it was completed. I believe that Oliver does an excellent job for a very fair price. They provide a good value for your money and most importantly they do things correctly so you won't have issues down the line. They even called me after the project was completed to let me know PECO would offer me a rebate for this system. I won't hesitate to recommend them to friends or family that need work done and done correctly.
Description of Work
Installation of a Mitsubishi mini split heating and cooling system plus thermostat in my sunroom addition. The installation was not easy or straight forward. They had to run the line set, drain and power lines through the exterior of the house and into a closet in my kitchen then fish them down into the basement and out the side of the house. The location where I wanted the head unit mounted was the most difficult place to locate it but it looks great. The system is excellent and has some very nice features.

We live in a relatively new development, and several neighbors had used Oliver to clean dry wall dust (from construction) out of HVAC duct work. Oliver's web site had detail information for a web request quote. Oliver called back promptly the next morning with an exact quote (which turned out to be the exact price they charged for the service), and we scheduled an appointment within 10 days. The Oliver technicians called day off to let us know their estimated arrival time, and they arrived exactly when they estimated. The technicians ran cameras through the duct work and showed us the construction dust/debris inside the duct work; they explained exactly what they were going to do, and promptly completed the work. The price charged was exactly the same as the estimate. The technicians were neat and presentable, and dusted/vacuumed up after completing the job. We would absolutely use them again (and plan to call them at the recommended intervals for regular duct cleaning). Price includes duct cleaning plus dryer vent line cleaning.
