"Used Shuba's Landscape In Felton DE to update our Landscaping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great results with this contractor. Had a Landscaping "PLAN" done then shopped contractors to do the work. Our experience with Shub's was outstanding, quickly provided competitive pricing estimate confirmed details of what they were going to provide in writing, discussed dates for the work to be done. Shub's crew showed up before 8 am the day we agreed, crew introduced themselves asked a few question and got to work, man did they work. Everything came out beautiful cleaned up the property installed shrubs perfectly, asked many times if we were satisfied. If you live in Central DE and want landscaping done Shub's is a great Option very happy with the results and price did not take the lowest bid got 3. Shubs is not our regular mowing irrigation contractor and still had GREAT result! We worked with A formal Jake who was knowledgeable, pleasant and very efficient. You can contact Shub's 302-632-6697 9901 Dupont Hwy DE"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

How much 4 yards of dirt will cover depends on how deep you want the soil to be. In general, a yard of dirt will cover 324 square feet for a 1-inch depth or 100 square feet for a 3-inch depth. Therefore, you can expect 4 yards to cover between 400 and 1,296 square feet if you keep your soil depth between 1 and 3 inches.

The most important thing to put under a rock garden is the appropriate soil. The specific soil needed will depend on the type of plants you’re growing as well as the environment you live in. You can also put non-woven or woven fabric under the rocks to add to the garden's structural stability.

Pavers are one of the most affordable methods of creating an elevated outdoor space. Gravel is an equally affordable alternative. If your budget permits, you can look into building a permeable driveway to ensure proper drainage. Grid pavers, pervious concrete, brick, and brick pavement are all effective materials. Permeable driveways are great options, especially if you live in an area with heavy rainstorms.
