Plumbing and electricity are best left to the pros, especially when something like your well pump includes both. Even when troubleshooting your pump, it pays to have a partner standing by for your assistance and safety.

No, a bigger pressure tank has no effect on water pressure. To increase water pressure in your well water, gently adjust the tank’s pressure settings to a higher psi (pounds per square inch). If you’ve already done this, you can swap out your current pump for one with a higher flow rate, measured in gallons per minute (GPM). You can also call a pro to install a water pressure booster pump in your home plumbing system. If you experience fluctuations in water pressure, replace your current tank and pump with a constant pressure system.

You should check water pressure twice a year to ensure there aren’t any irregularities and that it isn’t too high. It’s also smart to check it any time you notice symptoms of high water pressure (like banging pipes, inconsistent water flow, and leaky fixtures).
