"Wonderful experience! Our old deck needed SERIOUS help. Paint Perfect was recommended to us, and we couldn’t be happier. They got us a quote quickly, they got us scheduled as soon as possible, and the end result was nothing short of spectacular. I highly recommend this business."

"Bryan communicated very well with us; he followed through with what he said he'd do and did it in a timely manner. He's extremely organized and knowledgeable. He gave us some great advice and pointers when we were making final decisions. He's punctual, friendly, reasonable, clear and all- around easy to deal with. He told us what we could expect and made good on it.
He and his crew worked efficiently and harmoniously. They seemed focused on getting the job done while sharing a solid camaraderie. They were respectful of our property including protecting emerging perennials in a bed attached to the house.
They went out of their way to be as unobtrusive as possible. They cleaned up and organized their supplies and equipment before leaving for the day. They were considerate of the impact they might have on us homeowners and as a result, were very easy to have around.
This was a very good experience. No drama. Start to finish, Bryan runs a great operation. I'd recommend him to family, friends and anyone in the market for an above average painting job. Bryan consistently goes the extra mile by anticipating the needs of the customers and following through on commitments.

"The Zuck Painting crew tackled an interior painting job where a lot of surface prep work was needed, but the end results came out well. The crew size varied according to tasks at times. Communication at times was a challenge, but overall they did commendable work."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

You don't need to seal your deck after painting it because most exterior paints are waterproof and weather-resistant. While stealing is not necessary, it can add an additional layer of protection.
