"Excellent! Zuck painting has the most insanely fast and talented crew of painters. Everything was started and completed on the most rapid schedule I have ever seen. They said: "Your entire House will be done in three weeks" and I thought it was a joke, and they were completely done in 2.5 weeks. For context, we have a 3-story victorian wedding cake style house with lots of water damage, wood rot, and complex decorative molding. Everything was scraped down sealed and replaced within week 1, and by week two they were priming and painting. 13/10 amazing service for an unbelievable price."

"Kyle and his crews completed the following for our 2,400 sq foot home in September 2020 - Interior paint of all surfaces (walls, trim, ceilings, built ins) Interior wood floor refinishing Garage epoxy and wall paint Exterior paint of all surfaces (siding, trim, etc) Exterior stain of all wood surfaces (deck, treehouse, swing set) We purchased a home in West Hartford when I was 36 weeks pregnant. We had a tight timeline to have a complete cosmetic overhaul of our home prior to moving in. Kyle was extremely attentive and helpful during the quote process. Our closing got moved a few times and Kyle was always accessible to discuss a change in start date and was flexible with us for scheduling. Kyle was extremely helpful with design decisions. He offers lots of expertise regarding colors, etc. he was always available to discuss options and provide samples. Kyleâ s crews completed all of the contracted work in 14 days! It was unbelievable how hard they worked (day and night) to get all of the work completed. It truly transformed our entire home! We would highly recommend the services provided by Kyle and his crews. Some tips for working with this vendor - Make sure to review the scope of the contract with Kyle in detail. There was some miscommunication regarding whether our finished basement space was included in our contract which stipulated all interior surfaces that cropped up on day 9 of the work.. Kyle made this right and his crews painted this room, as well, but it required some discussion. If you are on a tight time table we would recommend checking in on the property regularly and touching base with Kyle on the timeline and being clear on when you need the work to be done. He often reminded us that the work being done would take other contractors 2 months to complete when it seemed we were getting close to our â drop deadâ move in date and the work may not be 100% wrapped. While this reminder was well intentioned we selected this contractor because he indicated the work could be done in 9 to 15 days as contracted. At the end of the day we got in on time and all of the work was completed to our standards."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.
