"Nightshade was the 3rd company I had in to quote new motorized shades in my home. After seeing what they had to offer, it was an easy decision to go with them. They gave me a fair price, with shades that were perfect for what needed. They had many different options and walked me through what would work best in each room. The customer service was top notch. When it was time for installation, they came in and made sure to cover my floors and did a quick, neat job. I would recommend them to anyone looking for window coverings. A+++"

Customers say: Quick response

"Elvin is great. He fixed my wood double front doors and applied paint that I had picked out, as well as new handles/lock. He took his time, was very polite, and made sure everything was in order before in left. My front doors look amazing. Will be hiring him again for more work around the house. Also, his pricing was very reasonable and on point for the amount of repair and painting work he did."

"Gary is professional, courtesy, up-front and honest. The project on paper was simple enough. It was suppose to involve altering the point of entry to some windows in our space, but when we went to remove more of the existing drywall, it quickly turned out to be a complete mess. Gary did an excellent job in adapting to rectify the situation, which involved jack-hammering granite, precise framing, drywall and paint. He stuck to the projected timetable of completion, arrived on-time daily, and while the ultimate pricing did fluctuate from the beginning of the project Gary was very clear from the beginning that pricing could increase if an intensive amount of jack-hammering was involved (which there was). Pricing was fair. Overall we would 10 for 10 involve Gary again for any serious carpentry or GC work we need completed in our space."

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

When comparing impact windows vs. hurricane shutters, it’s important to consider the protection and installation details to determine the right choice for you. For constant protection against storms and flying debris, impact windows are a better option than hurricane shutters, especially if you don’t want to install shutters that will change the look of your house. However, impact windows are more costly than hurricane shutters. If you want a budget-friendly option that’s still protective against storms, hurricane shutters are a solid option.

Windows can crack for various reasons. Common causes include aging glass, physical impact, and temperature stress. A less common reason is pressure changes, which are far less predictable. Pressure changes often happen because of poor window placement.

Contrary to popular belief, wavy glass in older homes isn't caused by warping. The blowing technique used to create windows in homes dating back to the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s left behind small bubbles that create a wavy effect. If a glass window is functional, there's no need to consider wavy glass damaged. In fact, many homeowners prefer the old charm of wavy glass.

Impact windows can last between 10 and 40 years, depending on how much wear and tear they receive. This is roughly within the range for standard windows; standard windows tend to last between 15 and 50 years. You can extend your windows’ lifespans by performing regular maintenance on them and ensuring they are installed correctly.

Typically, a bay window is, at minimum, 42 inches wide. That said, you can always design a custom bay window that is smaller—box bay windows are usually less than three feet in width and are ideal for smaller spaces.
