"Excellent, Chris and Amie fit us in within 24 hours. It would have been about 10 hours but I couldn’t get out of work. I was very appreciative since we’re in a middle of a heat wave and it’s a day before the 4th. They tracked down the problem and also identified that the safety breaker was no longer operational. All was fixed. I have two other projects that I’ll definitely use Chris for."

"Jim called and arranged a time to arrive and do the job. He arrived at the exact time. Explained what had to be performed and accomplished the task within the estimated time he gave. Afterwards he explained the details of operation of the sensor lights. He acted in a very professional manner and did not waste time in getting the job done. He is very highly recommended and we told him we would use him again when needed. T. A. Koch"

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

For a 10-by-10-foot room, you’ll usually need between four and six recessed lights. However, this is a general figure because each space is different. In addition to your room’s square footage, it’s also important to consider other factors, like the purpose of the recessed lights. If they’ll serve as ambient lighting, you’ll need more lights than you would if you were using them for accent lighting.

It is possible to change a light fixture by only flipping the light switch, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Exercising extra caution when working with electricity is always important. Take the extra few minutes at your electrical box to cut the power at the circuit breaker. Once you’ve flipped the circuit breaker and the light switch, use a voltage tester to confirm the power has been turned off.

Under-cabinet lighting is generally energy-efficient, especially when using LED technology. Compared to traditional ceiling lighting or older bulb types like halogen and incandescent, LED under-cabinet lights consume significantly less energy, which helps reduce operating costs. This applies to various forms, including strip lights, puck lights, and built-in fixtures. For an option that uses no electricity, consider battery-operated puck lights. While they require periodic battery replacements, they have the added advantage of functioning during a power outage.

A ceiling light will usually have two or three wires: black, white, and sometimes green. Black wires are positive, or hot, while white wires are negative, or neutral. The green wire is the grounding wire.

When you’re wiring the light, connect black to black, white to white, and green to the grounding screw.

Wiring or installing a light the wrong way can lead to potentially dangerous scenarios, including shock and even electrical fires. If you’re the least bit uncertain whether you’ve wired something correctly, the best and safest approach is to call in a professional electrician to handle the installation for you.
