"Excellent, Chris and Amie fit us in within 24 hours. It would have been about 10 hours but I couldn’t get out of work. I was very appreciative since we’re in a middle of a heat wave and it’s a day before the 4th. They tracked down the problem and also identified that the safety breaker was no longer operational. All was fixed. I have two other projects that I’ll definitely use Chris for."

"Switch was replaced but Choice Warranty refused to have ballast and fluorescent light replaced. I had to get technician to come back to replace 4 bulbs and two ballast for the kitchen and pay a service fee, parts, and additional travel expense for getting this done. The work done was handled professionally, within a reasonable time, and in good order. I was thankful the technician was able to get the job done even though Choice Warranty did not help in fixing the ballast problem. the second visit was reasonable in cost."

"Jim called and arranged a time to arrive and do the job. He arrived at the exact time. Explained what had to be performed and accomplished the task within the estimated time he gave. Afterwards he explained the details of operation of the sensor lights. He acted in a very professional manner and did not waste time in getting the job done. He is very highly recommended and we told him we would use him again when needed. T. A. Koch"

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

There aren't any hard and fast rules about how far recessed lights should be from the wall. It depends on your needs for the lighting. For instance, if you want to highlight a specific piece of art on the wall, you'll want to install lighting close to it. But if you want to illuminate an entire room, you might want your lighting farther from the wall.

A general guideline of one-and-a-half to three feet from the wall is a good place to start, but in the end, you want to make sure the lighting meets your unique needs.

LED lights are certainly more energy-efficient, using 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs—this can help you save on your utility bills during what is an already expensive holiday season. In addition, LED lights last much longer than incandescent bulbs, about 25% longer. That said, they are also a bit more expensive than incandescent Christmas lights, and emit a bluish hue which some people don't like, compared to the golden glow of an incandescent bulb.

A ceiling light will usually have two or three wires: black, white, and sometimes green. Black wires are positive, or hot, while white wires are negative, or neutral. The green wire is the grounding wire.

When you’re wiring the light, connect black to black, white to white, and green to the grounding screw.

The type of lighting you choose can have a big part in the aesthetic and function of your space. Ambient lighting refers to indirect or diffused lighting that evenly reaches most areas of the space. Task lighting illuminates specific areas, such as a workspace. Accent lighting draws attention to details in your home, and decorative lighting draws attention to itself.

It’s technically possible to install your own outdoor lighting, but we only recommend it for wireless set-ups, which won’t last as long as wired outdoor lights. Installing wired lighting around your property requires help from a professional electrician, especially since improper installation can increase the risk of fire. You may need a licensed professional to pull an electrical permit for you and sign off on the work. We suggest leaving the work to an expert to ensure good design, maximum security for your home, and the best quality work possible that will last for decades.
