"It went very well. Frank arrived early and he installed two high quality locks on two doors. Frank is highly professional. The locks that were installed look great and they keep my home secure. I believe that Frank has the other Locksmiths beat by a mile. It was easy to make an appointment with him. If any of my friends or family need an outstanding Locksmith; then I would highly recommend Frank."

"It went Perfectly. Joe arrived right on time and made sure he was parked in a good spot (I live in a co-op with a lot of rules about such things). After inspecting existing parts he told me that the knob and deadbolt were of very good quality and recommended just changing the lock cylinders. He did just that and happily honoured an Angies list coupon (even though I was unable to print it). His honesty saved me well over $150.00 He took his time and was not in a rush, sort of how you might remember skilled craftsmen from the past. He answered all my questions and made sure all worked perfectly before leaving. I will definitely hire Joe again and can recommend him highly. He also happens to be a very nice guy."

"Patrick was great and I would recommend him to anyone needing similar services. Since we are moving from out of state, we had very limited availability for when we could be at the house to let Patrick in, but he was extremely accommodating and agreed to come on a Sunday at no extra charge. Once he arrived, he was very personable, professional, and efficient. We are very happy with his work!"

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.

Yes, but adding a deadbolt to some door materials, like steel, may make installation a little bit trickier. For these materials, you will want to hire a locksmith to do the work for you, but be aware that they may charge an additional fee of $25 to $50 or more.

Costs depend on lock type, service complexity, labor, emergency availability, and whether security system integration is needed.

Smart door locks are safe to use and are usually considered safer than traditional locks with keys. While all electronic devices can be hacked, that doesn’t happen nearly as frequently in real life as people may think. You can also invest in multiple locks of different types for enhanced security so you don’t rely solely on one smart lock.

Keyless locks are often considered safer since they’re protected by passcodes instead of a physical key, making it harder to be picked. However, they are not infallible. And like all electronic devices, outdated models are more prone to problems and safety concerns. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.
