"Kyle from dream home renovations was wonderful to work with! He did a great job from start to finish with taking our old tub out and replacing with a new one. He was very professional and friendly with a great attitude the entire time! I would highly recommend him for any bathroom remodeling needs."

"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"I love my new walk-in shower!!!! The team of people who met with me and did my shower installation were very professional and pleasant to work with. I have recommended Imagine Remodel to all of my family members and I would definitely use them again. Plus the price was HALF of what some bigger big box companies were trying to sell me on even though they offered the same product. I'm very impressed!!"

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

Yes, and no. Your shower, toilet, and sink all connect to the same main drain, but the secondary drains going from each fixture to the main drain are usually separate. This isn’t always the case—especially in older homes—but since toilets contain black water and showers, tubs, and sinks have grey water, toilets are more regulated and come at a greater risk of contamination. It’s best to keep these drains separate using individual waste collection for this reason.

Yes, you can replace just the shower pan and leave the shower base as-is. However, you may need to replace both if the pan is leaking and causing damage to the base, like cracks. In this case, getting a new pan won’t fix your problems because you’ll eventually notice water damage in your home.

The amount of space needed depends on the size of the shower. For the standard 32-by-32-inch walk-in shower, you’ll need about 50 square inches. The International Residential Code requires a minimum of 24 inches of space in front of a walk-in shower’s entrance. That said, the National Kitchen & Bath Association recommends 30 inches of clearance, which is a bit more comfortable for most people.

Ideally, you’ll have enough room to open your doors and cabinets without interfering with your shower. This may not be possible in a smaller bathroom.

Depending on the layout of your bathroom, you may be able to replace a shower valve without removing the tile. The existing hole needs to be large enough to remove your old valve and fit your new valve. If the hole is too small, you’ll need to cut into the wall and remove some of the tile.

In some cases, a broken shower is a maintenance emergency. For example, burst pipes, flooding, and significant leaks all qualify as plumbing emergencies and should be handled immediately. Other shower issues (like slow draining and low water pressure) aren’t as urgent, but it’s still a good idea to address them sooner rather than later.
