Small jobs welcome

"Claudino is a true professional. Not only were the limbs and branches trimmed, as requested, he noticed other areas that needed addressing, as well. His pricing was very competitive. I will continue to hire him for ALL of our landscaping needs."

Customers say: True professional

"John responded and visited quickly. His crew completed the project over the course of a few days. It looks quite good and has already successfully withstood a heavy rainstorm. It clocked in at more $$ than I was expecting, but I'm 74 and don't really know what things are supposed to cost anymore! I'm sure it will outlast me."

"I was looking for a company that could do the work I wanted done, I found the #1 company Kayan LLC. They are the most dedicated, trust worthy, hard working, honest, and reasonable. I absolutely love the new side walk, loved it so much I had redone my porch and stairs done. After that was done They gave me a gorgeous wall for plants. I have gotten so many positive compliments. I can honestly say I loved their work so much, I had my whole bathroom remodeled with the same results beautiful. Rigel will always ask if you like the work done so far. They take such pride in their work. You can hire this company with no regrets, I am happy to say I have the most beautiful work that was done for me. Just can't wait till I can plant flowers. Thank you very much Kayan LLC, I will be calling for more work to be done."

"I hired Talo's Masonary to build retaining wall in my front yard which was sloping down. The project also included removing the juniper and brush in the yard, filling the yard in the front and back with top soil and seeding. The work was started 3 days later than scheduled, but when John's crew of 4 came on Tuesday 8/28, they finished the project in 4 days. They did a great job, the grass has already come and I am very happy with the work. I would recommend Talo's masonary for stone work and landscaping."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Costs for lakefront landscaping are influenced by project size, choice of plants and materials, labor, and any additional features or structures desired. Projects can range from a few thousand dollars to extensive transformations costing much more.

Pavers are one of the most affordable methods of creating an elevated outdoor space. Gravel is an equally affordable alternative. If your budget permits, you can look into building a permeable driveway to ensure proper drainage. Grid pavers, pervious concrete, brick, and brick pavement are all effective materials. Permeable driveways are great options, especially if you live in an area with heavy rainstorms.

While you can leave roots in the ground, if you don’t want the shrub to regrow again over time, it’s best not to leave any roots behind. Ensure you remove as much of the shrub as possible, including the root ball and any main roots you can see, to prevent new growth. Some gardeners opt for using a chemical treatment to prevent the stump from growing back, but this can kill beneficial microorganisms living in your soil.

As with anything you do near your foundation, you’ll want to ensure proper drainage when you plant your foundation beds. Your drainage should run downhill from the highest point against your foundation to avoid water intrusion and incurring expensive foundation repair costs.

Yes, it is possible to add too little mulch. Anything less than 1 inch will likely result in too little coverage around your plants, allowing weeds to grow through and minimizing the positive effects that a deeper bed of mulch would have, like maintaining proper soil moisture and insulating the ground.
