"Outstanding! All members of the work crew were professional, polite and great to have around—hard workers all! Each day they announced when they would like to arrive next day (7:15am) and they were here promptly at that time each day! We will gladly refer friends to Carlos and Gateway, especially because they can do it all! Very happy and pleased with refreshed interior, like new, to our home we purchased new in ‘92. Kristina in the home office was most helpful and personable. Their partner, Kay Wood, at Floortrader was very helpful assisting us to pick flooring and carpet colors—even made a special trip to our home to not only measure, but assist with color choices for paint to best match planned flooring and carpet. Thank you Gateway and the whole crew!!"

Professionals, such as licensed architects, have a fiduciary duty to protect their client's interest as well as to protect public health, safety and welfare. Many clients don't realize that non-professionals such as residential designers, draftsmen, and tradesmen do not have a duty to protect the client and that their relationship is "at arm's length". Architectural Innovators, inc. and it's associates consists of a team of professionals with over a century of combined experience. Mr. Caistor is the "big picture " member with a background in almost every aspect of design, construction and development. Including hands-on experience which compliments academic training . He treats your project as if it was his own project and your money as if it was his own money.\n

Architects questions, answered by experts

Typically, architects do not build homes in a hands-on sense of doing the actual framing, roofing, or other building. Architects usually do not have the training and experience to build the homes they design. An architect would need to know how to do the specific trades required to build a house, which is possible but not a common practice. A general contractor or homebuilder typically oversees the actual details of building the house that the architect designs.

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.

Get prepared to meet with an architect by having a clear idea of what you’re looking for, a list of questions to ask, and as many project details as you can provide. The more information you can provide and receive from a prospective architect will help you decide who to hire.

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.

Greek Revival and Federal architecture are quite similar in that they focus on symmetry and a blend of utilitarianism and opulence, but they differ in a few key areas. First, Federal architecture tends to include a brick facade, whereas Greek Revival homes more often have stucco siding, much like you’d find in Mediterranean houses. Greek Revival homes also tend to be a bit more ornate, with columns as decor, and more decorative and formal porticos.
