"John is very professional and knowledgeable. He arrived early. After the boiler inspection we were furnished with a very detailed invoice about what was done along with recommendations for future repairs. "Steve and his assistant tackled the installation of a WIFI contolled thermostat in my 120 year old house, in Ouray Colorado Tracing and replacing the thermostat wires and then hard wiring a 24 V rheostat in the wall adjacent to a 110V power source was an ingenious undertaking.....All turned out Perfect. And they left no messes for me to deal with.... I would strongly recommend this company for their expertise and quality of work performed. Steve also replaced old outdated interior sewer lines in basement same house 3 years ago, and did an outstanding replacement"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Professionals can recommend efficient layouts or appliances and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Scale from hard water is hard to diagnose until it starts causing problems. If your area has particularly hard water, that’s most likely what your boiler is using. If scale build-up becomes a problem, it starts to cause decreased flow and heating, and eventually, valve failures as valves become blocked. Let boiler professionals know if you’re worried about scale and they can offer advice or implement a solution.

The average lifespan of a boiler is typically between 15 and 20 years, though some may last for as little as 10 years while others can reach 30. A boiler's longevity is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the unit, proper installation, and consistent professional maintenance.

The material also plays a significant role. Older boilers made from durable cast iron can last for over 20 years, with some functioning for up to 50 years. However, it's important to consider their lower efficiency, which can lead to higher utility bills. Modern boilers, often made from steel alloys, are designed to withstand high pressure and temperatures and have an average lifespan of about 20 years.

To maximize your boiler's lifespan, ensure it is installed correctly, have it professionally maintained each year, and address any necessary repairs immediately.

Yes. In many cases, switching from an old furnace to a high-efficiency boiler can help you save money over time. You can also save money by switching from an electric boiler to a gas boiler, which costs much less compared to the energy bills an electric boil can create. Boilers are often (but not always) more efficient than furnaces, too. Then there are discounts, rebates, and incentives that can help you save on the initial costs.

Using heating oil to heat your home has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages.

Consider these drawbacks before installing a heating oil system:

  • Heating oil prices fluctuate frequently

  • Risk of oil spills or leaks

  • Produces more air pollution and soot compared to a gas furnace

  • Regular maintenance required for equipment

  • Need to reorder heating oil consistently to avoid running out
