"Wes knew what he was doing. My project was more challenging than normal. To install my antenna he had to work in the crawl space under the house and find the base of an interior wall. He got the job done and the results were I had great reception and he stayed with his original quote."

"I really enjoyed the work by these Networking/Ethernet folks. A different provider had quoted me an $800-1000 project and said I needed Cat 6 cabling for ethernet, when really my existing Cat 5E was fine. All it took was ~$100 and one hour for parts and labor and I now have ethernet ports in every room that support Gigabit speed. Thanks again! Couldn't be happier with this."

"We can't recommend the team at High Power Electric enough! We have used their services repeatedly since our move to the Grand Valley in 2017. Adding and removing outlets, updating fire/CO2 detectors, moving electrical in walls...they do it ALL!!! A personal favorite project we hired High Power Electric to help us with? Our home had dated can lights that were yellowed and looked awful; we asked High Power Electric to replace the covers and they said they could do that, BUT they suggested instead that we spray the covers in a nickel finish to avoid them turning yellow again!!! Guess what? 6 years later? The nickel finish STILL LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! #HighPiwerElectric #GrandJunctionBestElectrician #brilliant #electricianswhocareabouttheirclients #itismorecostefficienttohireanhonestelectrician"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If a 3-way switch is wired incorrectly, this can cause several issues. The most common problem is that the switches will not function properly: Either both switches won’t work, or only one will. Another issue is that one switch will trigger a short circuit, tripping the circuit breaker.

Most people don’t think twice when using loose outlets, but they are a safety hazard. Loose outlets can cause issues with the flow of electricity in your home, resulting in electricity jumping from one connection point to another. When this happens, it can cause a spark that could start an electrical fire in your walls.

While not always necessary, wiring your circuit breaker in a certain way can ease both the installation process and use afterward. For starters, you’ll need to install the electrical panel so that the main service knockout aligns with the cable conduit. If they aren’t aligned, you may not have sufficient working space to finish running the wires. Using cable trays, on the other hand, gives you a bit more freedom to and flexibility in where and which direction you install the wires. At the end of the day, the power flow will be the same whether the cords run up or down.

A two-way switch is also called a single-pole or single-throw switch. These switches only have an on-and-off function and only control a single light or series of lights wired together. A three-way switch has no “on” or "off” position and works with a second switch in the circuit to control a single light or light series from two locations.

No, sconces don’t have to be hardwired, but they can be for a more permanent solution. Sconces come in various styles, sizes, and finishes as well as types of installation. Plug-in wall sconces can be plugged into a nearby outlet, and battery-powered sconces can be mounted to the wall.
