"No one else would touch this job. Three other electricians said no way. Hackett sent a rotating crew of three for a whole historical house electrical upgrade ito code ncluding replacing all wiring, outlets, light fixtures, smoke alarms, and remodeling through additions over 100 years ...we added walls, took out walls, they moved wiring throughout and changed the electrical panels inside and out and ran electricity underground for a hot tub and for an ADU."

"Bill is a nice guy, very fun to talk to, very upbeat.  I had considered making him my go-to electrician, since I have some future wiring needs to finish out a basement.
However, after he left, I noticed my whole-house humidifer was no longer working like it had been prior to the new furnace installation (ie only coming on when the furnace runs).  To his credit, Bill came back and checked it out and together we determined he needed to install a relay to put everything back in order.  He told me twice he'd "get to it tomorrow" only to drop the ball and not return my calls.  I'm generally pretty forgiving and gave him  the benefit of the doubt on multiple occasions, but anyone that I need to continually chase down and pester is probably not an appropriate choice for a regular "go-to" electrician.
I hesitated to write this review, hoping he'd get back to me, but it's been over a month, and I'm still without my humdifier at the time of year when I need it most.  The furnace is working great, but alas, no humidity.
Hopefully Bill, you'll read this and come install my relay to get my system back to what it was.  I'd be willing to remove this review if we can get that accomplished.
Many thanks.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electric fences use very little energy and shouldn’t cause any surprises on your next energy bill; You may only notice an extra couple of dollars on the bill. While electric fences don’t consume much energy, they still need it. If you have a power outage after a storm, your electric fence will likely stop working.

When installing an outdoor outlet, it's important to proceed with caution. Unless you have the necessary training and licensure, it's not recommended to attempt this DIY. First, choose a suitable location. Make sure that the area can accommodate the outlet without overloading the circuit. You'll also need to ensure that your project complies with building codes. Next, turn off the power to the circuit, then install and wire the outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once the outlet is in place, test it. Lastly, be sure to use a cover that will protect it from moisture and other weather-related damage.

Volts and watts aren’t directly convertible units—they measure different aspects of electricity. Volts measure electrical potential, while watts quantify the power. The relationship between the two is defined by the equation: Power (watts)= Voltage (volts) x Current (amperes). In other words, the product of volts and amps results in watts, but there is no fixed conversion of volts into watts.

GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, a standard safety addition to home power outlets. In rooms where moisture is more likely, like the bathroom and kitchen, GFCI outlets stop the current when certain kinds of shorts are detected, preventing shocks. Both GFCI and the similar AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets are polarized and have clear indicators on the receptacle where hot wiring should go.

Even if you don’t have children living in your home, The National Fire Prevention Association still recommends installing tamper-resistant outlets when you’re replacing your existing outlets.

Not only is your home likely to change hands at some point, but you may have young children over as guests. Making the switch even if you don’t currently have children living with you at the moment will help protect any future pint-sized visitors to your home.
