"This is the second shower that Michael Williams has done for us and is very easy to work with and displays professionalism in all he does. His attention to detail is outstanding with a desire to insure that we are aware of the choices for placement of shelves and such to make the final product work best for us. Mike went the extra mile to insure that everything went well and suggested how we could complete the surrounding work that results in a great and beautiful remolded bathroom. We were happy with the support for the Bordner team in meeting and solving any concerns we may have had. Mike is a great example of what you would hope for in a person that comes into your home. He takes care to work with you and respects your home and does a great job of leaving the work area clean. Thank again Mike for a job well done. We would look forward to having you in our home again for other projects."

"Tyler was proactive about following up ahead of time for our previously discussed work. He arrived as scheduled, and completed plumbing unhookup and rehookup after we had our countertops replaced. He also completed some electrical switch swaps, got our garbage disposal reinstalled after a drain reconfig, and did some extra support for our bar top. Very neat, friendly and flexible. Highly recommended!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Before starting plumbing work in Silverthorne, check your home's exact elevation, as high altitudes change water pressure and water heater performance. Identify your water source, whether it is municipal or a private well. Inspect the age and material of your pipes, since freeze-thaw cycles degrade older copper and galvanized steel. Finally, assess the insulation in your crawl spaces to prevent freezing and ensure your home stays safe during harsh winters.

Helpful?

The subarctic climate in Colorado forces a short construction season for outdoor plumbing work, limiting excavation to warmer months. Extreme cold requires burying underground lines at least 48 inches deep and applying extensive insulation. Heavy spring snowmelt saturates the ground, causing sewer line backups in older homes. Additionally, the dry, high-altitude air forces water heaters to work harder and requires specialized venting to account for reduced oxygen availability.

Helpful?

For plumbing projects in Silverthorne, keep heat tape and foam insulation sleeves ready to protect vulnerable pipes from extreme cold. Store a water pressure gauge to test your pressure regulator valve, along with pipe repair clamps for emergency fixes. Own an air compressor to blow out irrigation lines before winter, and keep a drain snake handy to clear slow drains caused by seasonal ground shifts in older neighborhoods.

Helpful?

As homes age in CO, extreme cold and high-altitude water chemistry accelerate wear on plumbing components. Newer homes feature durable PEX piping requiring minimal upkeep. Mid-age homes with copper or CPVC pipes experience pinhole leaks and brittle lines from repeated freeze-thaw cycles, requiring partial repiping. Older properties with galvanized steel pipes demand full repiping and sewer line replacements to resolve severe corrosion and ground shifts from frost heave.

Helpful?

Silverthorne homeowners must prioritize freeze prevention by inspecting pipe insulation and heat tape before winter. Flush your water heater annually to clear sediment that builds up quickly from high mineral content. Inspect and replace your pressure regulator valve every five to seven years to prevent pipe stress. Clear your drain and sewer lines regularly, and always drain outdoor hose bibs before the first fall freeze to protect your plumbing system.
