"The customer service was top notch! They could not have been nicer, and they were MUCH cheaper than the 2 other plumbing services that gave me quotes. I will only call them in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"These folks were / are great for many reasons. The ONLY issue that I have is the cost for the replacement of my water tank. The most expensive replacment tank that I found anywhere is $550, but the one that I would have purchased to make the replacment myself was $350. There was a single union joint to be removed after draining the water and my cost was $1274.500. It just seems a lot for travel and labor. I did learn a lot about my system but even the education cost seems excessive. I regret not going down to look at the problem myself as I would usually do because I think I would have saved on this cost. Lastly, I could be totally wrong and again these folks were great customer service providers which makes it hard for me to leave a negative review."

"The yearly service works out to be $50 a month. We've had two water heaters replaced through them because of a fault in them. They're usually very responsive. I like that I can request the service online. The only thing is, I wish that there was a better avenue for emergency services. If something doesn't work right away usually it takes a couple of days to get someone out and sometimes you can't wait two days without water."

"Mike and Jasmine were great! They showed up when they said they would be here (actually a little early). Very knowledgeable and took care of the issue with our tankless hot water system quickly. Highly recommend them for any plumbing needs."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

The chemicals in a water softener can wear down the anode rod in the heater and shorten its life span. However, for most people, the benefits of the softener outweigh this potential drawback.

Have a plumber inspect the anode rod annually for damage, as replacing the anode rod is far less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

You can use a commercial water repellent treatment for glass on your shower doors to prevent water spots. Take care to only apply the product to glass. Letting air circulate also helps prevent water spots, as water is less likely to remain on the glass for a long time with good air circulation. Run your vent fan, open a window, and leave the shower door open for about half an hour after using the shower.

If your ‘do isn’t doing what you want it to do despite using good hair care products, hard water might be to blame. Since hard water can’t rinse soap off as well as soft water can, your hair might grow limp because of the shampoo and conditioner residue that’s left behind. If you color your hair, you might see it fade more quickly or even turn a different shade as the dye reacts with the minerals in the water. You might also experience an itchy scalp, thanks to the dryness that comes from bathing in the hard water.

A good hardness level for drinking water can vary based on personal preferences, but an ideal level is 3.5 to 7 GPG. This means your water isn’t soft or hard. However, some people prefer the “fresh” taste from the minerals in hard water, while others like the smoother, “slippery” texture of soft water.
