"Edge and Ivory responded to my request quickly and next day came to our home for a free assessment. They quoted us fairly, and we were on the schedule within the week. They did an amazing job! Our yard is completely transformed, and they did exactly what we asked. We would recommend Edge and Ivory to anyone looking for landscaping services and look forward to future projects with them."

"The Tree man service came for an estimate within one day ... the service was scheduled two days later.  They showed up on time, completed the services exactly as promised, cleaned up after the project was completed.  The whole project took about 4 hours.  They were professional and pleasant while they were here.  We would definitely hire them again!

"Joseph, Noey, and Dan did a great job, at a fair price. Joeâ s ability to take down large trees is impressive. The teamâ s attention to detail was outstanding. I am happy I chose Josephâ s tree service over the others Home Advisor suggested."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The felling notch you make before you make the final cut will determine which way the tree will fall. The cut will be in a wedge or triangle, and the tree will fall from the highest point of the triangle. You can use this, as well as the process described above, to estimate where a tree will fall.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

There are two types of arborists: certified and consulting. A certified arborist is licensed and equipped to provide tree pruning, planting, fertilizing, monitoring, transplanting, treatment, and removal services. A consulting arborist specializes in tree appraisals, diagnosing problems and recommending treatments for illnesses. However, they will not provide these services themselves. Most consulting arborists are certified arborists who can refer you to a tree service that can administer the correct treatments.

No, you cannot plant a tree above a gas line. Tree roots grow and spread over time and can sometimes dent, crack, or penetrate a gas line. Those same roots may also cause accessibility problems for maintenance or repairs. You can generally plant vegetation with non-invasive root systems, low-growing vegetation, and flower beds near gas lines.

Tree roots can take weeks to years to die, depending on the method you use. Chemical herbicides take the least amount of time—typically between three and four weeks—while homemade methods, like covering an old stump with leaves, could take between seven and eight years. If you’re unsure which method to use or how quickly you need to act, consulting with a pro is always a good idea.
