"Pedro Lucas did an excellent job removing 11 large trees from our property. He was on time when he came to estimate the job. His quote was reasonable. He performed the work and the cleanup, as we agreed, in a most timely manner. I do not hesitate to highly recommend him for any tree service work you may have."

"Forrest Tree Service did an outstanding job of taking down two huge 70yo elms in my MIL's tiny backyard. It was not an easy job! They also removed several other unsightly trees and shrubs and ground all the stumps. The elm wood was neatly cut and stacked for us for to split for firewood. They happily helped us move it at one point because we needed access 2 places where we had already told them they could stack it. The smaller stuff was chipped and removed. Forrest arranged to have some of the wood milled for what will be beautiful furniture. Gramma's trees will live on for generations in our family! On top of all that, they were just as nice as could be!! Thank you, Forrest Tree Service!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In nature, there are many things that can cause a tree to die, including diseases, insects, and natural disasters such as fires or droughts. Non-natural methods of killing a tree include herbicides or manual intervention, such as cutting it down. Consult a tree removal professional about your options for naturally killing a tree.

A grafted tree is a tree grown by combining two trees. It takes expertise. Branches from grafted trees don’t grow strong roots. Save yourself the time and frustration by having an arborist help you with this advanced project.

You can often tell if a tree is grafted because it will have a noticeable line. Above the line, the bark will look different than it does below the line. It’s most common with fruit trees.

The amount of time it takes for a tree trunk to rot depends on several factors, including the tree’s size, species, and environmental conditions. It can take anywhere from a few years to several decades for a tree’s trunk to rot. A tree stump, on the other hand, can take up to 10 years to disappear after it’s decayed naturally.

Opt for a barefoot tree. Pros harvest barefoot trees when they’re dormant (leafless). They shake the dirt from the root ball and pack it in moist material.

These trees can cost half as much as the trees at your local nursery, and you can buy them online—so there’s a much wider selection. Just make sure you keep your barefoot tree cool until you’re ready to plant it.

Using Epsom salt to kill a tree stump typically takes between six and 12 months. While this may seem like a long time, it is significantly faster than the natural decomposition process, which can take up to seven years. This method is a viable DIY option for stumps that do not pose an immediate hazard. If you need a faster solution, you can hire a professional for stump removal or grinding, though this may cause more damage to the surrounding ground.
