"John was amazing! He came right away and gave me an estimate which was spot on. He was able to complete the job right away, which was critical because my Houdini dog was able to escape my old fence. John made sure there were no spaces where the fence joined other fences that would allow my dog to wiggle out. He was prompt, honest, and cleaned up totally afterward. He even remounted a light that had to be removed from my old fence. I recommend John- highly! I would definitely call him again for future fence needs."

"Two men from D & D Fencing showed up on time and ready to replace 4 fence posts. They went straight to work and replaced them in a few hours. They removed all broken posts and concrete, and I sent them on their way with a check in hand. Great Job."

"My daughter's exhaust pipe broke off at a middle Weld spot. I got underneath her car, I don't know how to Weld but this was the worst Weld job I've ever seen. Had Eric come, the man has my daughter's exhaust looking factory!"

"Start to finish, Jose is a pleasure to work with; he is professional, competent, courteous, knowledgeable, experienced, friendly.  Budget was an issue for us and Jose helped us chose a treated douglas fir for our deck.  We met to go over my scale drawing, asking and answering questions.  My plans went to his designer.  Jose submitted the detailed bid via email and we accepted it.  Jose allowed us to work alongside in order for us to lay rock under the deck before they began work.  Although Jose has two work crews, he fit our deck in to his busy schedule by doing the work himself along with two very competent associates.  Jose obtained the necessary house plans from Regional Building and then did all of the work to obtain and manage the building permit.  (We could have saved ourselves a small charge if we had the footprint already on hand.)  Our AC unit had to be relocated and one exterior faucet raised.  The work progressed quickly.  Jose is easy to work with.  Communication was clear and prompt;ly, although we probably drove him a little crazy with our endless questions.  Jose was patient in explaining every step.  The three required inspections went off without a hitch. We LOVE our deck!We highly recommend Jose and Abbas Construction for your next project.  We intend to call him when we're ready for our next project."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Yes, a double fence can keep deer out of your yard by using the deer’s limited depth perception. For example, a 6-foot tall fence with another 4-foot fence a couple feet from the outer fence makes it look more difficult and unsafe for the deer to jump and land safely. You can even mimic the look of a double fence by using wire or a clothesline.

The average lifespan of a wood fence is 15 to 20 years, but some can last for 40 years or more depending on several factors. The type of wood is crucial; for example, untreated pine may only last 5 to 10 years, while pressure-treated pine can last up to 20 years, and cedar's natural resistance can extend its life to 40 years. Other factors include local weather conditions, with wet and windy climates causing faster deterioration, and the quality of maintenance. Higher-end wood, metal posts, and privacy fence styles also tend to last longer.

While cedar and pine are two of the most common wooden fence materials, everything from redwood to bamboo is also available. You can also purchase pressure-treated wood, which better withstands water damage and the threat of pests. The best wood for your fence will come down to your budget, local climate, and preferred look.

You’ll need to bury the garden fence about 1 foot underground. It’s tempting to save on materials by burying the fence just a couple of inches, but if you do so, determined pests will still be able to dig under the fence and access your plants. Burying your garden fence deep into the soil is an important step that allows you to attach a wire barrier to the fencing.

Burrowing animals (like voles, moles, rabbits, and gophers) can’t dig or chew through this wiring, meaning that you’ll be keeping your prized petunias or your robust veggie garden from being eaten.

When deciding to replace or repair your existing fence, consider the 20% rule that fence builders reference. This rule states that if more than 20% of your fence needs repair, you should skip the repair and replace it. Additionally, if your fence is nearing the end of its life, it's often best to replace it.

Repairing the fence is a good option when you have minimal damage or damage from a specific event versus wear and tear. Your fence repair professional can assess the damage and compare the repair price with the cost of a new fence.
