We are a local family owned welding company. Have been in business 3 years full time and 4 part time. Between owners 30 years in the welding industry. Offering a 24hr emergency mobile service to small rails stair and large structures.
"We had hired Clay to fabricate a spiral staircase for our home. After many delays, they showed up with the wrong material (square tubing for the post instead of a round post), missing material, and they cut the stair treads not up to code. I expressed my concern with spiral staircase code not being met and he got upset messaged profanities and threatened to sue me for a bounced check, a check he in fact deposited and bought material with. The bounced check was not done in ill faith as we tried to remedy it immediately, he was able to deposit soon after and buy material worth less than $1k. He blames leaving on the bounced check, but I don't believe he wanted to work with us after telling him what he was doing was wrong. He left the wrong material and wrongly sized stair threads at our home and took the entire deposit. Fabrication of stairs was not started until the day he arrived. Tried going through small claims but was unable to have him served. I would not recommend anyone go through what we did with Claywood."

we are a metal fabrication company that provides a quality product for a reasonable price and with top notch service.
"Brandon came to our home and measured for the Wrought Iron Railing we wanted from our backdoor down two non-standard concrete steps to the concrete patio. He made a drawing to our design specifications and gave us a price for our approval while still at our home. The fabrication was done beautifully and when the railing was installed we liked it so much, we're going to have Brandon make another railing for our front porch."

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.
The average cost to hire a welder is about $300, with an average rate ranging from $65 to $125 per hour, depending on their experience and the project type and size. Aside from labor costs, some other charges you’ll need to pay include the cost of the welding material and the cost of the shielding gas that makes welding possible and safe. When you’re interviewing welders for your work, you can ask for an estimate based on your project specifics. In some simple cases, like welding gas lines or common welding projects, local welders may charge a flat hourly rate with add-ons if necessary.
There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:
Are you licensed and certified?
How long have you been in the welding business?
Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?
Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?
Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
How long do you expect my welding project to take?
What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?
You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
Some states require welders to be licensed and certified, while others don’t. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed welder, regardless of requirements in your area, especially if you need welding for structural components of your home or gas lines. Licensed welders have gone through training and testing to prove their skills, so they’re less likely to make a mistake that could be detrimental to your home. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to determine whether your potential hire has a welding license.
