"Dustin immediately followed up with my initial request with an email, then a phone call. He answered all of my questions and provided information that was useful and helpful. His project quote was very reasonable, he returned phone calls and would follow up when he said he would. BMG did quality work and was very happy and satisfied with the outcome of this project. I had three additional companies that I contacted for quotes: one didn't bother calling back, and one didn't even ask any questions about our project. They threw out a figure that was nearly TRIPLE of what BMG quoted. When I asked them, "why their price estimate was so incredibly high," the rep stated, "that's just what it is!" BMG will have my fence and deck projects in the future!"

"We contracted for the removal of an existing fence to be replaced with a new cedar fence. After a weather glitch (snow storm) their crew of two got right to work and constructed new fencing exactly as agreed. A couple adjustments were requested and completed without question or added expense. We wholeheartedly endorse All Out Fencing to do your job."

"My horizontal wood fence is beautiful! I really enjoyed working with Justyna and found her communication and involvement to be excellent. Enrique and Julien did the installation and were thoughtful, asked me questions for clarification, talked me through scenarios with each of the gates (2 very different gates), and were very considerate in everything they did. Thank you all."

"Ulises did a great job on my fence, completed in a timely fashion, & made sure I was satisfied with the job before he left. I found him to be dependable (arriving when he said he would), courteous and patient. I will be calling him again and definitely would recommend him! NOTE: He also paints & landscapes. Yay!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

It is almost always necessary to hire a land surveyor near you to ensure your fence sits on the right side of the property line. Mistaking the shape of your property can lead to fines and costly changes if you have to move or adjust the privacy fence—not to mention some surly looks from your neighbor. We recommend jumpstarting your fence planning in the spring to ensure there is plenty of time to map out your plan before construction season.

To choose where to add a fence gate, know where fence gates shouldn’t go. For example, you should avoid placing gates over low spots on the ground where water can collect and form muddy puddles. Many ranchers install gates at the corner of a fence. Certain gate placements may also be required depending on the type of gate latch you use.

Moisture and rot are the largest threat to wooden fences. Stain can help your wood fence last 15 to 20 years, but only if you choose a stain with waterproofing qualities or add a sealant. Oil-based stains create a thicker moisture barrier than water-based stains, though both are mold and mildew resistant. You’ll generally need to re-stain your fence every one to eight years to get full protection.

The bottom strand should sit between 12 to 15 inches from the ground. If you have a problem with small critters, you can aim for 8 inches. Three-strand fences should be 16 to 19 inches apart, four-strand fences should be 10 to 12 inches apart, and five-strand fences should be 8 and 10 inches apart.

No, fence posts aren’t always set in concrete. If you don’t want to use concrete footings for your posts, expanding foam is a popular alternative. Expanding foam and concrete each have certain pros and cons. For instance, foam is easier to install and more sustainable, but concrete is sturdier and less expensive.
