"I can't say enough about the amazing job Cliff Stuart Interior Painting did with our complete interior house paint job. Cliff and his crew took the time to carefully remove all the lighting, windows, and electrical hardware in each of the rooms (and replaced at the end), repaired all the holes and damaged areas, and then hand painted primer and two coats of paint on all the walls, trim, and ceilings. This 31 year old house now looks as good as any of the new build model homes! We're so pleased with how it turned out. Cliff is a professional and shows up when he says he'll be there, takes care of the house during the process as if it were his own, and provides sage recommendation on the things you never even considered when you started the process. You get what you pay for and I believe I got everything I was hoping to receive and then some. You can find cheaper spray on paint companies out there, but I'm VERY satisfied with our results from hiring Cliff and his team!"

"We didn't have the paint from the previous owners, but they were able to match the color so you couldn't even tell. Great value and great work. Definitely will use them again."

"Martin and his crew did an excellent job of painting the outside of our house. He kept us informed of any scheduling changes due to the weather and was easy to reach if we had any questions. He was very knowledgeable concerning all aspects of painting, receptive to suggestions and was very helpful in coordinating color placement. He uses good quality paint and was meticulous with the cleanup after he was done. We were appreciative of their emphasis to detail and the quality of their work. We would highly recommend Picasso Painting to anyone looking to update their home, inside or out!"

"Groovy Hues did a fantastic job with my interior painting! They were extremely timely and efficient throughout the whole process. I really appreciated that they didn't rush through the end of the job—they took the extra time to ensure all the finishing touches were absolutely perfect. Highly recommend!"

"Tony removed the wallpaper from my entry way, down the hallway and up the stairs to the second floor and painted the walls. He had all the right equipment and plenty of â KNOW HOWâ to get the job done. He is easy to deal with and very polite. He cares about his work and his main goal is to have a satisfied customer. I would recommend Tony."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

While the above methods will help you remove paint from tiles, you may need to take a different approach to get rid of grout haze. If you’ve recently applied the grout, you may be able to wipe it off with a wet cloth. Otherwise, you can try removing it with a rubber grout float, spraying it with a mixture of four parts water to one part vinegar, or using a store-bought grout haze remover.

Sandblasting is a common method for removing paint. It works great if the underlying material is tough. This is because you can then use more abrasive sandblast materials, making the paint removal process much faster and less expensive. If you plan on removing many layers of paint on smooth surfaces, you’ll need to be more careful about which materials you choose to use to sandblast.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

Scrape softened caulk with a putty knife or slice hardened caulk with a utility knife. Hard-to-remove caulk generally requires more time exposed to a softening solution, like a commercial product or rubbing alcohol. A few hours to a day later, the softened caulk will come off with the help of common household tools. In many cases, you can grab needle-nosed pliers for caulk with multiple old layers and pull the material off its base.
