"Thomas is efficient and did a great job for us. He communicated with me quickly and clearly, focused on meeting my customer needs. Tom installed a new chimney cap, deep cleaned the flue/fire box and repaired some cracked stove fire brick. The work was done on schedule to the our satisfaction, with a warranty. All questions were resolved quickly. I would hire Mile High Chimney again, a job well done."

Customers say: True professional

"Franco came out, looked over the chimney project, even went in the attic to inspect. Gave a fair estimate and came the next Saturday. Finished tuck pointing and placing a liner in the chimney in a single day. It has been three weeks with torrential rains and where the chimney had been leaking is now bone dry. Very satisfied."

"had such a great experience with HighPoint HVAC! The entire process was seamless and incredibly easy from start to finish. I was able to schedule an appointment right away, and the team arrived exactly on time. They were professional, friendly, and took the time to explain everything clearly. After finishing the job, they left the space spotless; you’d never know any work had been done. Their quality of service and attention to detail really stood out, and the pricing was very fair. "Sparkle Pros Cleaning did an excellent job! This is a vacation home for us that is never rented out. We had them come in and do a one time deep clean but once we saw what a great job they did we decided that we would definitely be using them again. Windows, blinds, baseboards appliances, bathrooms, you name it they cleaned it. Such a pleasure to deal with. Thank you, Vanessa and Micheal for arriving on time and doing what you promised."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

The ridge is the horizontal line where two sloping roof sections meet at the top, forming the highest point of the roof. A hip, on the other hand, is the external angle formed where two roof sections meet and slope downward toward the walls, typically at a lower angle than the ridge. The ridge runs horizontally along the peak and the hip runs diagonally from the peak to the roof's edges.

Homeowners insurance may cover chimney leaks, repairs, or replacement, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage. If the chimney is damaged by a sudden, covered peril like a lightning strike, storm, hail, fallen tree, or an unexpected fire, your policy is likely to cover the costs. However, insurance generally does not cover damage resulting from normal wear and tear, old age, or a lack of proper maintenance, such as failing to perform regular cleanings and inspections. If a fire or other damage is caused by a known issue you didn't address, the claim may be denied. Additionally, some policies may have specific exclusions for events like high winds or earthquakes.

Homeowners insurance can be voided in several scenarios. That can include making too many claims in a short period of time, leaving a home vacant for an extended period of time, renting out a home or room illegally, using a home as a business illegally, and any kind of criminal activity connected to the home.

A chimney cap typically lasts between three and 25 years. This wide range is due to several variables, including the material it's made from, the local climate, and how frequently you use your fireplace. Living in an area with severe weather can shorten its lifespan. Regular inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs as needed can help your chimney cap last as long as possible.

There are a few things you should look out for that suggest your chimney needs repair. The most obvious of which is leaking around the bricks or stone, which should be addressed by a professional immediately. If you’re unsure of its repair status, consider conducting a chimney inspection. Some other repair signs include:

  • Smoky smell in your home when you’re using your chimney

  • Visible damage to the bricks or mortar between them

  • Chimney is pulling away from your home

  • Portions of the brick are flaking away or crumbling

  • Visible cracks that travel through the mortar in a stair-step formation
