"I interviewed five companies for a mold mitigation. I chose this company because Ryan the representative was the most thorough in finding places where there was moisture that the other companies did not even look for. They have always showed up on time and have done what they said they would do. Ryan was always available by phone or email for any questions. He was very responsive at all times. Their follow up is very good, testing to make sure there are no mold spores in my home. I would I commend them very highly."

"Scott is very thorough and informative. He also seems very honest and friendly. He had a very quick response time to my request for quotes and I got an appointment right away. The turnaround time was also very quick for the test results as well. I think his prices are comparable to that of what others offer to test or even lower. I like that he only does testing and not remediation so that there's no conflict of interest."

"I hired Clean Sweep Environmental to clear out all the mold in my new house. I didn't realize it was there until after I moved in and smelled something weird. I thought it would be a major hassle, but Matt and his crew were incredibly professional and got the job done quickly. I cannot recommend them enough."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Mold in HVAC ducts is a relatively common issue that homeowners struggle with—especially in humid climates or homes with poor ventilation. Moisture from condensation, combined with dust and organic debris, creates the perfect environment for mold growth. Homes with high humidity, leaky ducts, or clogged drains are more prone to this issue. Regular inspections and proper HVAC maintenance significantly reduce the risk of mold developing in your ducts.

Rust in your bathtub occurs when iron in the water or on metal components in your tub are exposed to oxygen, but while it’s unsightly, it won’t make bathing dangerous. However, if the rust appears under or around your tub spout or shower head, it could indicate that you have high levels of iron in your water. Drinking water with small amounts of iron in it usually doesn’t pose a health risk, but you might want to consider installing a water softener. The presence of iron could indicate that you have hard water, which can create some plumbing issues.

Wood stain is not considered toxic after it dries. The solvents in wood stain are what give off volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are toxic, but these dissolve as the product dries, leaving behind a non-toxic product. When working with wood stain, you should always wear a respirator and rubber gloves to protect yourself, but once it dries fully, it’s not toxic, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Water damage doesn’t always cause mold and wood rot, but it can. Both mold and wood rot require moisture in the wood to form, so water damage that continues to leave water or moisture behind can lead to both issues. Water damage and mold often go hand-in-hand, but you can prevent mold growth after water damage by addressing the source of moisture and drying out the area quickly. The same goes for wood rot. The longer you let water damage go, the higher the risk of mold and rot.

Yes, you can use bleach to remove mold from your aluminum siding, but it’s a powerful cleaning agent, so make sure it’s diluted with water first. A solution of one part bleach and four or five parts water works well. But it’s still a good idea to start by cleaning a small, inconspicuous area of the siding to make sure that the solution doesn’t cause damage or discoloration.
