"Legacy concrete and their crew did a great job. The only problem was a mistake on the bid that was found just before the job started. Robert worked very hard to work out a solution satisfactory to both parties and the job was finished on time. We are very happy with the results."

"Thank you Cardo for our amazing 20x30 patio. Adding 600 sq feet of outdoor living space. You took special care due to our utility easements and the slope of our yard. Excellent craftsmanship and teamwork. Thank you for making this easy and affordable!"

"We hired Black Widow Concrete to demolish and remove a retaining wall and old driveway and pave a new driveway. We were very happy with the entire process. Ricardo and his team were very easy to work with. We had some unique timeline constraints for the project, which Ricardo was very helpful in accommodating. Ricardo was very responsive to all communication, returning phone or text messages within a day, if not sooner. The team was experienced, professional and clearly took pride in their work. We would definitely hire them again!"

"We had a corner of our house settling and needed foundation work to stabilize the home. Complete Basement systems was one of 4 contractors that provided bids and they were competitive but ultimately were our third choice. Two main factors that kept me going with Complete Basement Systems. The first is their initial price was NOT competitive. Other contractors were including the concrete work and Complete Basement Systems expected me to pay for it. On top of that, I feel they over sold/pitched a solution. They "recommended" 3 helical piers and 18' of angle iron along one wall of my house. Of course such a solution would force me to rip out my entire front porch which I would have to pay extra labor for and also pay for the concrete to be replace. It was by far the MOST invasive and expensive recommendation. They did offer a cheaper 2 pier solution that was more in line with some of the other quotes. I just didn't like that they somewhat pushed a solution that was most likely overkill for the situation. To their credit, they were NOT high pressure. They simply emailed the recommendations and quotes and then followed up via phone/email. They also offered to throw in concrete work AFTER I pressed them on pricing, so make sure you get competitive bids. I'm confident they would have done a good job, however, if I would have hired them."

"Could not have been easier. Iram came out did a thorough inspection of the work needed and provided a precise competitive bid. He and his crew showed up on time as agreed upon and performed the work exactly as bid. The work was done on time and with excellent craftsmanship. I would hire him and his team next time I need a concrete project done."

Concrete Walls questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you will need a building permit for cement work on your property. You need a permit for any project that adds a permanent foundation on your property—which, in most cases, includes even a flat slab of concrete poured directly on the ground. Building permits for concrete projects usually cost between $100 and $500, although this can get higher for larger projects. You can always ask your cement company if a permit is necessary for your project, and the expert will typically pull the permit for you to save you time and energy.

The actual moisture level that is acceptable for your concrete floor depends on what primer or flooring material you plan to install above it. For this reason, you should check the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact details.

Generally, the moisture levels should be 3.5% to 4.5%, although it does vary. Some products can handle higher levels of moisture, so you should always test your concrete before purchasing your flooring materials.

Aim for a concrete thickness of at least 4 inches for the walls of your above-ground storm shelter and 3.0 to 3.5 cubic yards of concrete for the base of your storm shelter. If you’re concerned about the thickness of your concrete while building a storm shelter, get in touch with a professional storm shelter builder to make sure your work is up to code and safe.

Costs depend on material type, labor rates, and additional features like decorative finishes or reinforcement.

Any bowing in a basement wall indicates a problem that needs to be addressed by a professional. If your basement wall bows more than 1 inch, it's time for an inspection. Generally, a wall can bow up to 30% of its thickness (around 2.5 inches for an 8-inch-thick wall) before it becomes an urgent situation. Bowing of 2 to 4 inches is more straightforward to fix than bowing of more than 4 inches, which will require significant repairs. If the bowing is more than 6 inches, the wall will likely need to be replaced. The sooner you address the problem, the easier and less expensive the repair will be.
