"They are professional, friendly, and they listen carefully. The team that came to the house worked very well together and they cleaned-up very well at the end of the project. We would not hesitate to hire them again for a future project."

"Top-Notch tree service has really lived up to its name every time I've used them. They've trimmed trees for me as well as taking out trees that unfortunately had to go. Their people are extremely skilled at what they do and have taken on Jobe requiring a huge crane to complete. I've literally never been concerned about any aspect of what they advised needing to be done."

"Jason took on a huge project in our backyard that no other company would tackle. We had a 35 year old cottonwood tree removed 2 years ago, stump was ground then also, but we now had a yard full of mushrooms growing up on the roots continually. He spent 2 long days digging up all the roots and discarding them in a dumpster he had delivered to our driveway. Then he also had a load of dirt delivered with which he filled the holes left from the root removal. Another half day was spent spreading the dirt all over that lawn area and other barren areas of our yard and then planting grass seed. In addition, he took on a handyman job for us of removing a window air conditioner and carrying it to our basement! Jason was very detail oriented and thorough in his work, plus arrived early and worked longer than 8 hour days! His fee was more than reasonable. We will definitely use Jason’s skills again as needed!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

Often, it’s the homeowner’s responsibility to handle the aftermath when a neighbor’s tree falls on their property. But if a tree has been obviously dead for a significant period of time and caused damage when it fell, a case can be made that the owner should have removed it, especially if the neighbor wrote you a letter about the tree or asked you to take it down. This can be grounds for a successful lawsuit in claims court and is a good reason to always pay attention to your trees and remove dead trees before they fall.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

Firewood tends to be cheaper during the spring and summer. When the demand for firewood is lower during these seasons, many firewood companies offer lower prices and added discounts. In addition, the supply of firewood is typically higher in these months, meaning the quality is typically higher as well.

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.
