"They are professional, friendly, and they listen carefully. The team that came to the house worked very well together and they cleaned-up very well at the end of the project. We would not hesitate to hire them again for a future project."

"Demir came out and took down the Aspen tree that was fallen and unsafe and hanging on another tree branch on a Sunday, then came back with the crew the next morning. They did a great job and the aspens look really healthy now and safe for the next windy day in Colorado. They even raked up and cleaned the backyard. I would definitely hire Hernandez Tree service again - excellent job and reasonably priced !"

"Glenn was great! He completed the work on time and at the agreed price. My tree stumps were surrounded by rock. He took great care to make sure the rocks didn't go flying and cause damage while he was grinding the stumps. He's honest, friendly, professional and insured. I had a great experience with Kingsley Stump Removal and I highly recommend them."

"Miguel did outstanding work for us. He took down 4 aspen in our front yard that were growing by a water feature, near the house. He took great care to protect the landscape from damage, and he cleaned up exceptionally well. He gave us an amazing price as well- far less than any other estimate. Five stars- he’s hard working, meticulous and easy to work with. We highly recommend him!"

Small jobs welcome

"John is an incredibly knowledgeable arborist who clearly understands trees and the issues they face here in Colorado. We had two pines that he ended up removing and replacing with Junipers. He gave us options to treat or replace. John took the time to walk through both options plus provided several tree replacement options to chose from. Highly recommend his expertise and honest approach."

"I have used strand services for over 2.5 years! They are always on time, and reliable! I’m a project manager for 4x industrial for the reclamation side of the oil field where we return properties to their natural form! We utilize their services for potholing and mowing so we have a safe work space and know the depths of lines wether abandoned or live!! Their job ensures my operators saftey!!They always fill in their holes, mark depths and take photos and send them to me so I have it on record! I know they do other services but these are what my team utilizes them for! If you’re looking for a reliable company and team, this is the one!! Respectful and diligent!!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

In the short term, you’ll have a lot of fallen trees to deal with. Tree removal services costs typically start at $200 per tree and increase based on species and size. Then, you’ll have to deal with the loss of trees: That means a loss of shade and a greater risk of rain runoff and erosion. Also, you’ll miss out on the health and aesthetic benefits of having trees on your property, which could even affect the resale value of your home.

That being said, cutting down a tree it’s not always a bad idea. Trees growing too close to rooftops can present fire hazards or debris problems. You may need to remove diseased or dying trees to prevent future issues.

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

A serrated knife will work for cutting off small palm tree fronds, about 1 inch in diameter. For larger fronds, you will need pruning shears. You may also use a pruning saw, and if your palm tree is especially tall, an extended pole saw can help you reach the brown fronds around the trunk.
