"We had emergency septic situation where our effluent pump had failed, and our tank was FULL. Crow Creek Septic Services came out on a Sunday and pumped the tank and confirmed that the pump had indeed failed. They ordered a new pump and did all of the repairs for us. They did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. Jacob and Tim were great guys and great to work with as well. Veteran owned and operated - we highly recommend them!"

At Boonstra Excavation we take pride in our work. As an operator in the field for over 5 years it was time to start my own company. We do work of all kind from basement digging and backfilling, to grading, road building, sewer and water main installation, residential sewer and water services, demolition, septic fields, and more. Standing apart from most, we take pride in a job done with promptness and quality. If you're looking for a bid on any job, or even just have some questions, feel free to give me a call at 970-278-6151. Thank you, Stephen

"Stephen was FANTASTIC to work with. His price was great! He was prompted in calling to set up an estimate, showed up on time for every appointment! Suggested extra service I had not even thought of, like leveling out the area and removing a tree stump! He was so accommodating in working around my crazy schedule and time line for getting it done. No suprise extra charges at the end. Hands down the best experience I have had working with a contractor."

Waterlines, sewer lines, remove stumps, excavate for walls, concrete slabs, and final grades, foundation perimeter drains, underground electrical conduits w/power installed by others, Install concrete retaining walls, concrete slabs for sheds, garages, and driveways. Interior painting. Handyman miscellaneous.

"This company did a great job for us. They removed old city sidewalks and replaced them with new, plus added a sloped section to our back yard walk leading to our garage. They showed up on time, completed their work in the amount of time expected +/- 4 hours. Pricing was very competitive based on 3 bids we received prior to starting the project. Patrick and his sons Marion and Benjamin were very professional, and took care not to damage our yard any more than absolutely necessary. During the work prep several sprinkler lines were damaged and they immediately repaired them even though their written contract excluded that requirement. They are honest and courteous and we are very glad we hired this local family owned business. They are the "real deal"."

"I am very satisfied with the service that Arden at K2 provided. We just bought a home with a failing septic system and hot many quotes for replacement. Of all the companies we contacted, K2 was the easiest to get honest, straight forward information from. We are so glad we hired them. They helped us with permitting questions and got to work within less than 2 weeks."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

The disadvantages of having a well include more maintenance, like annual testing and inspections, and high up-front costs to drill a well. Well water is also vulnerable to contamination, which is why keeping up with testing is important if you own a well. When it comes to well water versus city water, well water does offer more independence and is a reliable water source.

Your toilet will still flush if the septic tank is full, but it might flush more slowly. It may make gurgling sounds as the wastewater slowly drains through the pipes. You may also notice the toilet clogs up more frequently when the septic tank is full, although this can also be a sign of other plumbing issues, like a clog in the pipes.

The size of your septic tank plays a role in determining the proper size of the drain or leach field. As a general rule, you should have 1 square foot of drain field size per gallon of septic tank capacity. However, you could install a leach field that’s as much as 2.5 square feet per gallon of septic tank capacity. Most professionals determine the right septic tank size and drain field size by the number of bedrooms in the house. A three-bedroom house needs a minimum 1,000-gallon septic tank, for example.

Buying a well drilling kit will save you money over hiring a professional. That said, digging a well is risky. If you make an error, you may have to get help fixing it. Also, the DIY costs are still pretty hefty when considering everything needed to complete the project successfully. You’ll need to account for the permit, pump, water tank, and more. If you don’t feel comfortable taking the necessary precautions to tackle this on your own, go with a pro.

The physical constraints of hand-drilling a well limit the depth you can achieve. Manually digging with picks and shovels may only lead to shallow wells of up to 60 feet in depth. To reach greater depths, you need more specialized equipment. The diameter of your well and the tools you’re using will determine how far down you can dig.
