I called at 8:00 pm in the evening after I noticed that the furnace was not working. I didn’t think that I could find someone so late in the evening. The dispatcher was able to send out a technician in less than one hour! The technician was professional and friendly. She informed me about the company’s rates. I signed the work order. She immediate identified the issue. I agreed to have it fixed. Then she completed the work and inspection in about 1 hour. Everything went smoothly; I was very happy about the timing and efficiency of the whole service experience. I highly recommend this company and especially the technician who did the work: Jasmine.
Description of Work
My furnace was not igniting. It’s a 19 year old Carrier furnace. It needs a few repairs. For this work, it needed a new igniter. The technician also provided a full inspection and recommended some other repairs as well.

I was soooo impressed with Jasmine S., that I will request her for all and any work that needs to be done on my furnace and/or A/C. Jasmine was on time, very up front with what she was planning on doing, asked me if I'd like to join her and she would show me and explain everything she was looking for and doing. Jasmine took the blower wheel to a car wash to use their power wash, to get it as clean as possible! Seriously, I've never had any other 'male' Tech do that - just sayin'... I trusted and enjoyed her right from the get go, she's so empowering to women everywhere!

I canceled the plan, they billed for it anyway. Had to go to the credit card company to get it canceled. They have continued to call my home, 6 times in the last week in an attempt to get us to re-instate the plan. Worse yet, my spouse originally signed up for the plan, I canceled it. When I answer the call, they hang up. When I call the number, they don’t identify themselves, they ask for your zip code and address then attempt to once again ask for us to sign up. I have spoken to the representatives and a member of management asked them to take us off the call list, the calls continue. They are either operationally inept or desperate for business. Don’t sign up for the plan you will regret it

I had one problem with them. He was doing something that he should not have been doing. He was supposed to do my maintenance on my air and he did something with the hot water heater. He turned it down for some reason, but did not turn it back up. I have followed-up with them about it. I do not have a cost because it is part of my annual maintenance. I pay that in advance. It is a company I have been using for a few years now. I use them every year.

They did a pretty good job. They did everything that we needed. We purchased these products from them. Andy took the time to explain the differences in the units and assisted us in finding the best units for our home. The installation took a couple of days but went very well. We were even shown the difference between the new heater and the old one. Once the work was done, they even hauled away the old unit. Overall, this was a good experience. Now, we have a service contract with them for regular maintenance.

Technician left a jumper wire on furnace controls that kept the furnace on FULL when he left. We set the rheostat down to 67 and had to leave about 2:00 PM. On our return, the house temperature was 85 and the furnace was still on FULL. A call to the dispaatch resulted in "our computer is down and I can't contact a repairman. " Additional calls resulted in the same answer except that the dispatcher was very nasty and accused us of causing the problem and that if the problem was our fault an emergency charge of $95.00 would be applied. When the technician finally arrived at midnight the house had been at 85 degrees with the furnace still running for NINE hours! He removed the jumper wire and the furnace shut down and went back to normal. OneHour offered no apologies nor any consideration of the cost of natural gas that had been wasted. Last time I will use any of the services of OneHOur or any member of the service group with which they are affiliated.

We had issues with our A/C system where it was not cooling properly and it was icing up the unit. I asked my wife to call a repair man and she called another company not sure of the name (although if i did i would rate them an F). We called these guys next and initially we had Alan show up and he was pretty good, although he was not able to diagnose the issue. We have a barometric damper for splitting to the two zones and he thought this was the issue, so he started changing the settings of the weight. This did not do much as it was not helping much, then we went out and he felt that the issue was that the outside unit was blocked up. He said we should schedule a cleanup. Then he convinced me to sign up for their loyalty membership. This cost me $199 for that membership, although the visit was free - that is what sold me.The issue was not fixed and it was still hot in the house as the A/C kept freezing so we called them again and another guy came. This guy looked at it and said he thinks that fan is about to go out as well as the refrigerant is over-loaded. He ended up reducing the refrigerant and this cost me another $250 to do that. The A/C still was not working so we called them again and now a new guy came and he looked at the system and said that we need a starter protector (capacitor) as per the wiring and installed that. This was another $250. This also did not do anything so we called and the same guy came and said that we need to have the compressor replaced this was a $1500 job. At this point I was vary if this will fix it as they did not have a clue if it will! I decided to wait and sure enough it was not cooling so we called him and then he talked to the specialists on the phone and they said compressor replacement is the absolute last resort (just before replacing the A/C). Note this guy said the motor fan was fine unlike the 2nd guy.In this visit he installed another unit so it would not freeze as until then we had to go out and turn off the unit and run the fan so it will de-freeze. After all this we went on a trip and came back and it was hot as h*** in the house. It seemed like the AC was not doing anything. We called them to come look at it and sure enough the AC had tripped due to the capacitor. He came in and took out the capacitor that the other guy put in and said we dont need it. Now after all this they said the issue was none of that and it was the damper. They also said they dont have a clue how to set the damper and asked us to call someone else. This was the last straw. We tried to call other people, although everyone was tied up. Finally I ended up looking at the diagram of the damper with the assistance of my dad and we set the damper the right way and ~$1K later, i ended up fixing the issue myself. I still have the 1 yr membership with them and lets see how that goes with the maintenance.

We had our AC stop working one Saturday in June, and because they had same-day service, we went ahead and called them. The technician came out and looked at the outside unit (never opened it up) and stated that our equipment was very old (2001) and that freon units were no longer made, and the whole thing would have to be replaced. He also said that the AC was "hooked up wrong" to the furnace, and that would mean a whole new furnace too. "I can't beleive it even passed inspection" from the City of Greenwood Village. (it has worked very well for 10 years!) He said that the sales people would be out on Monday. He made no repairs, but we paid him the $69.00 trip charge. On Monday, a marketer came to the house. He looked at our system, but not very hard. He gave us an estimate of $15,000 for a new AC and Furnace. My husband said no way. He then brought it down to $12,000. My husband said to talk to me (his wife). I got a phone call at work, and was told "we will work something out to make you comfortable in your home". I told him no, we did not need a brand new AC and Furnace. He argued with me, stating our units were very old and "not fixable". We waited 2 weeks in sweltering heat to have Controlling Systems out, since they were totally booked ahead that long. When the technician arrived, in about 15 minutes cool air was pouring out of the vents. A loose wire in the outside unit had caused it to stop.He would not take any payment, since maybe he did not tighten the wire last year when he was out. "Maybe it was my fault" and not even a trip charge! (I will put an A+ rating on their Angie's List review!!!)I feel One-Hour Heating and Air Conditioning was either completely deceptive or totally incompetent. They never found the loose wire, but never really looked either. Wanted to replace a completely working and adequate system and tried to convince us that it was not worth fixing. "Freon units are not even made anymore, and you can't get parts for them". From $15,000 to a totally free service call!!! Now that's what I call fraud!

I called One Hour when our central air conditioner went out during the 100-plus degree days in June. The unit is an old Sears add-on so I knew getting parts would be tough at best. The One Hour representative, Chris, was not very polite or helpful. He spent just a little time and returned saying that we had a failed capacitor and that they did not stock the part. He then proceeded to tell me it would cost at least an additional $165 to install a new capacitor, and $327 on top of that if he had to “re-wire it”. I thanked him and agreed that the unit was probably not worth that level of investment, as he could not promise that it would work even then. I ended up researching it and opening the unit up a few days later myself. I found the two run capacitors (compressor and fan) and found proper replacements for them on the Web for about $9 for the pair. With shipping the total cost was about $22. I have installed those capacitors and the A/C is running just fine. The capacitors in this application only have two connecting points each, and they are quick-connect clips. No re-wiring could have possibly been required and he knew it (had to know it because he had tested the capacitors). Thus, poor service, lies, and trying to jack up a price to a total of about $600 at the minimum (including the $99 paid already) to get it running. My total fix cost - $22. I am I the process of getting bids to replace the furnace and air conditioner due to their age, but absolutely will never deal with One Hour in any capacity again.

My air conditioner was not working. They came out timely, but the guy was very confusing about what was wrong, telling me that we needed to spend over $500.00 to diagnose whether we needed a compressor. He looked at my warranty (from Amana) for parts, coil, and compressor, and told me that the company that installed the air conditioner would need to do it to honor the warranty. He then proceeded to tell me that they were an inferior company and that we should have bought from One Hour in the first place (six years ago). He also told me it wasn't worth replacing the compressor, if that was what it needed, and that we should buy a new air conditioner from him for 7800.00. The company that referred me to One Hour was E & M Heating and Air, and I have since called them. They stated that he apparently just wanted to sell me an air conditioner and that they wouldn't refer to One Hour any further. In addition, the repairman was rude when he realized that I wasn't going to have him do the work. I paid $99.00 for nothing!

2-The guy showed up at 1:00 PM but never called. I mentioned this to him and he looked shocked, because he said they never call before hand and he has worked for the company for 4 yrs. At first I was surprised when I saw a Ben Franklin truck pull up in front of my house. He told me they were affliated with One Hour. He put on shoe protectors and started checking out my hot water heater after asking me a number of questions about what was wrong. He was able to light the pilot light and he waited 10-15 minutes to make sure it stayed lit. Then he turned it off and waited a few minutes and relit it to make sure it would turn off once it heated, which it did. He said he couldn't find anything wrong with it, but said it was 11 yrs old and the normal life of a water heater was about 12 yrs and that I would probably need one in the next year or so. He said if it went out again and it couldn't be restarted, that it was more than likely the thermal coupler, which would cost about $255 or a lower element that cost $417 to replace, and probably wouldn't be worth paying thoses expenses for a 11 yr old unit. Then we sat down to go over quotes on a new water heater. First he told me about a service agreement that was $280/yr that included them coming out 4 times a year (one time each for checking electrical, plumbing, furnace, hot water heater). The cost was less if you signed up for 2 or 3 yr contracts. Then came the shocker!!!!! First he said that the 40 gal. and 50 gal. were the same price (which I found odd). The cost for a 6 yr warranty unit was $1874 w/o a service agreement (1686 w/agreement), a 9 yr warr. unit was $2385 w/agree. ($2146 w/o), and the 12yr warranty unit was $2970 w/agree. ($2673 w/o). You could have knocked me over with a feather!!!! He told me that if I wanted to, I could go out and buy a water heater myself at places like Lowe's or Home Depot, but that they would probably cost abour $1100 and then it would cost about $600 to have it installed. I told him that I had paid $750 for an 80 gal. tank in Memphis, TN and my mother paid $500 for a 50 gal. tank in Michigan. He said they were definietly not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive in the Denver area. There is no way I would pay these kind of prices for a HOT WATER HEATER!!!!! I'm in the process now of getting quotes and checking prices on line at places like Sears, Lowe's and Home Depot. The young guy who came out was very nice and professional and I know he was only quoting what the company has for pricing, but I definitely will not use them to put in a new hot water heater.
Description of Work
I had no hot water so I assumed something was wrong with my hot water heater. My son told me to check the pilot light, which I did find out was out. I tried lighting it 3 times, but it never started. I do not like doing anything where gas is involved. I called One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning at about 4:00 on a Friday. They could come out Saturday, but it would be after normal hours since they were booked up and the cost to come out was $125. However, the girl informed me that if I could wait till Sunday during normal hours, the cost would be $28. I could live without hot water for 2 days, so I scheduled it for Sunday. She asked if I would like 1-5:00 or 2-6:00 PM, and said they would call before coming. The guy showed up at 1:00 PM, but never called. I mentioned this to him and he looked shocked, because he said they never call before hand and he has worked there for 4 yrs. At first I was surprised when I saw a Ben Franklin truck pull up in front of my house, but they are one of the companies that are affliated with One Hour. he young man that came out was very nice and didn't try to tell me I needed a water heater now, so I was pleased he was honest. I know he was only relaying the pricing that the company puts out, but I definitely would not use them for a new one. I am in the process of checking out other companies and Lowe's & Home Depot.
