"We love the driveway and enjoy the front porch extensions very much. The old driveway at 3" to 4" thick was removed totally and did not have any rebar in it at all. The new Legacy driveway has a lot of rebar, and is 5" or more thick all over. Thank you very much Legacy for the great quality job."

"The ADE crew was on time as they promised. Their work quality was exceptional as was the finish job. There were a number of residents that stopped by and commented how great the finished driveway was and asked for ADE's card. I was very impressed from start to finish. I would highly recommend this company."

Customers say: Quick response

"Tony was a pleasure to work with. His response time for an estimate and scheduling the job was outstanding. Very reasonably priced for the excellent work his employees created. His workers were very polite as well as neat, cleaning up after the job was finished. I had a sidewalk with steps created in my backyard as well as replacing concrete slabs on my driveway. Would not hesitate to call him again for another project."

"Strasburg concrete was great. We hired them to do an extended driveway and they came out and did the driveway and also did a sidewalk leading to our ramp that goes to our deck in our backyard this will help bring my disabled grandchild out easily. We did encounter an issue with one of the sprinklers leaking and Tony came out and fixed it himself. Thanks Tony ! We love the driveway and the sidewalk .They were very reasonable and they were very efficient . Everything looks great!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.
