"Peter and his crew at 5280 Sealcoating were extremely professional, they showed up on time and the job was completed before I got home so I was not inconvenienced at all. My driveway looks great and I would recommend 5280 Sealcoating to anyone."

"We love the driveway and enjoy the front porch extensions very much. The old driveway at 3" to 4" thick was removed totally and did not have any rebar in it at all. The new Legacy driveway has a lot of rebar, and is 5" or more thick all over. Thank you very much Legacy for the great quality job."

"My wife and I decided we no longer wanted sod in our backyard because of the water restrictions it's really hard to maintain. Instead, we opted for stamped concrete and walkways with mulch and rock. The guys also installed a few trees along the perimeter of the house, so we're excited to see how they do in hopes for more shade by next summer. Very good communication with daniel who was also very accommodating with scheduling and flexible with pricing."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Pepper's Landesign Services did exceptionally well on our concrete driveway. Easily one of the best contractors we have ever worked with. The price was fair and competitive. Communication with Gabriel Peppers, which is often a challenge for contractors, was excellent. Gabriel discussed the work and schedule at each step. There were zero surprises. His concrete team was experienced and actually amazing to watch and the results were superb. I would ask them to do more work without hesitation."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Driveway aprons typically range between four and seven inches thick, though your town's building codes will likely have specific requirements. Additionally, you may need to add a layer of permeable aggregate in the excavation below your paved apron to ensure proper stormwater drainage.

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. Hiring a driveway professional to pave it will ensure that your driveway looks neat and clean and lasts for years to come, and it will also prevent a weak driveway and, potentially, damage to your foundation. Paving a driveway requires heavy machinery, and while you can rent the equipment needed, operating it close to your garage slab or around your home’s foundation can crack it and lead to structural issues.

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

When asphalt cures, it typically changes from a very dark black hue to a lighter, more matte gray color. Cured asphalt also won’t be tacky or sticky to the touch or emit any odors from the asphalt mix. Additionally, the surface of fully cured asphalt won’t deform under any pressure.
