"I finally contacted Peter from 5280 SealCoating through Angie's List's messaging. He responded to me almost immediately, and was over to give me an estimate exactly when he said he would be here. As we were analyzing the current asphalt, he pointed out to me why it was in such bad shape (the previous installation was too thin, without a good road base underneath). The initial estimate was right in the price range I was shooting for, but I was worried about drainage and some issues, and we decided to do the job right. With the leveling, a thicker coat of asphalt, adding the road base, and adjusting the grading for drainage, the price pushed up a bit beyond what I was thinking, but it was also good to do it right instead of having to redo it in a few years. The crew showed up exactly as scheduled, and Peter was on site the entire time, making sure it was being done as we had discussed. I appreciated his knowledge, and how he conveyed to me the differences between a cheap job and a quality job, and his very thorough explanation of the maintenance procedures for the future. One other note about the service, I was also getting my roof replaced the same day as the asphalt installation, because of weather-related schedules being shuffled. (Note the gutters being replaced in the attached photo). The asphalt crew and roofing crew worked together perfectly to make sure neither was stepping on the other's toes. That was a great example of how 5280 SealCoating is focused on customer service. I look forward to having them do the seal coating on the driveway in the spring, and using them for further maintenance in the future! Finally, I found a company that didn't give me the runaround!"

"Outstanding! Mike showed up to bid the job right after phoning him. He gave a fast simple estimate and we hired him. On the spot. He said he would have a crew here by 8:30 and and finish the 200 yd driveway in one day. The guys pulled in @8:30 am, 4:30 they were done and it looks fantastic. Supremely satisfied."

"I would have given them a 5 star rating but I had a few spots get messed up on my drive way where you can tell it was thinner. When I asked about them fixing it he said he didn’t do small jobs. I asked for Johnny to come out and look at it he said he would. It’s been weeks now and he won’t he hasn’t came out like promised. Johnny won’t even answer my phone calls. I’m very disappointed that this is how they are treating a customer. It shouldn’t matter if it’s a big job or a little one. If you can tell in the picture that was sent that the asphalt was thinner in a spot you should guarantee your work and come fit it. I even said if I have to pay I will since I did have workers out to take out a tree and their truck was what caused damage. But Johnny even agreed that sometimes the machine can give out a thinner layer like what was caused in this situation so why won’t he come fix it? So I would go else where to get your asphalt done. My neighbor got his done as well so I’m including the whole price since since it’s all tied together bc our driveways join together."

Small jobs welcome

"The crew did a great job and was able to get the job done in a very timely manner (about one week from time of quote to having a 100% completed driveway). We received 4 other quotes and this company came in about $1000 under the rest. Would definitely recommend!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"In this discipline of work there are many different levels of quality and customer service. Martin was polite, honorable and clearly very knowledgeable. His estimate was fair and the work they did (entire circular drive and side mounted garage) was done efficiently, quickly and very professionally. Martin was on the premises the entire time and oversaw a crew of detail oriented and meticulous workers who cared about the final product. I enthusiastically and highly recommend McNally Asphalt. They are the best in Denver for a reason!"

"We moved to Franktown a couple of years ago and had a very large, gravel driveway. Last year, I decided to get it paved and talked to several companies. I went with McNally because they have been in the business longer than most. Peter and Martin were very professional and personable. I was worried about the time needed to get the job done, but it was done very quickly and I did not have to hike up to my house for more than a couple of days. The driveway still looks terrific after a year of use and harsh weather. The edges have held up and there is very minimal crumbling. I am very pleased with them and my investment. I would definitely recommend to everyone that I know."

"I worked with Jose Esparza and had a great experience. Jose was very professional and responsive throughout the entire process. The RACO team did a great job. They excavated areas to expand my driveway, repaved the existing 250â driveway, re-sloped it to provide better drainage, cleaned the area and ensured I was completely satisfied before they left. We love our new driveway and will be calling Jose to have it sealed this summer. I definitely recommend them."

"Onyx had one of the best prices for getting our asphalt done for our business and was also the most professional, providing required documentation & a contract, with the ability to pay online upon work completion. Hector had to coordinate with another vendor/ building manager for the concrete portion of our asphalt job - and after the work was completed, the other vendor commented how great Hector and his team were to work with, how they took his thoughts on things into account related to the concrete vs asphalt portions, and they showed up early both days of the job & completed everything on schedule. The end result looked wonderful. Great price, great quality, and great customer service. I highly recommend this company for your home or business!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Yes, using recycled asphalt millings is an eco-friendly alternative compared to concrete. Millings are reclaimed pieces of gravel that are recycled into aggregate that can be used on driveways, patios, walkways, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.

Depending on project size, typically 1 to 3 days, including preparation and installation.

While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Other regions may have a maximum of 12%, 15%, or 18%, so check with your local building department to ensure you’re laying a driveway that is up to code for your location.

Gravel is the most economical and least expensive driveway material, costing between $1 and $3 per square foot. This is significantly cheaper than alternatives like asphalt or concrete. However, it's important to consider long-term costs, as gravel driveways require regular maintenance. You will likely need to add new gravel filling once or twice a year and regularly rake it to keep it level, which can add to the overall cost over time.
