"We priced a small chimney repair job among several contractors. Benny's price was fair, he responded quickly, finished the job within a week of giving us an estimate and his job was great. They (His crew is also his wife, Emily) cleaned up afterward and came by the next day to do a follow up wash. We would definitely recommend Masonry Restoration."

"Maria was very responsive during our initial conversation and our estimate walkthrough. She listened carefully and was very understanding about the level of detail I wanted for our residential post-construction cleaning. Her pricing was extremely fair, and the job was worth every penny! I was encouraged to check things out before Maria and her crew left on cleaning day, and when I asked about one item in the bathroom, Maria herself was more than willing to take additional time and effort to make it look better than it has in years. :) I will absolutely be contacting Polar Masonry after our next construction project!! "Ivan Masonry is truly a Second-To-None outstanding company! Ivans wife Yuliana handles the scheduling, finances, and most all the communications. I contacted HomeAdvisor on Veterans Day November 11, 2020 re brickwork on the front of my house and Yuliana scheduled it for November 14, 2020. They started at 8:00 am and were totally finished by 1:30 pm and the work was fantastic! Ivan and Quan (2d Best Bricklayer in Colorado in Spec Mix 500 competition) installed the brick!! Other bids were at least 30 days out to do the job! They were the fastest and best brick masons I have ever seen and their price was very fair too, considering their outstanding job! I highly recommend Ivan Masonry. They are not only great masons, but everyone was very nice and they totally cleaned up everything when finished! Yuliana was fantastic to work with too, as she kept me in the loop on every aspect of my job! They all seemed like family to me and I could not be more pleased with their outstanding work and their professionalism too! Outstanding Job! You cannot go wrong with Ivan Masonry, Period! Thank You All so much!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Cutting stone comes with a number of safety hazards. First and foremost, if you’re not comfortable with the equipment required to cut stone, including blades and grinders, you could easily injure yourself. The heavy machinery also poses a risk to your ears if you don’t wear proper ear protection; similarly, you need to wear eye protection to keep debris from irritating your eyes.

However, the biggest risk from cutting stone comes from the stone dust. When breathed in, stone dust can be a huge hazard to your lungs. Always wear a face mask when cutting stone to prevent inhaling stone dust, and thoroughly clean the work area when you are finished.

To avoid injury, we recommend hiring a stone-cutting professional, rather than attempting this job yourself.

Mortar is a mixture of sand and cement that binds materials, such as bricks, stones, and concrete blocks, together. Think of it as the glue that fills in the gaps between bricks and stones, then seals them in place to prevent damage or deterioration. Mortar also helps spread the load across a wall or structure, keeping cracks and shifting at bay.

Costs range from $3,500 to $15,000, depending on material, labor, and design complexity.

Brick is the closest choice when seeking to capture the timeless look of stone with a more practical and budget-friendly option. When comparing stone versus brick siding, the price range of $200,000 to $400,000 for average brick home construction is dramatically lower compared to the cost of building a stone home. If you'd like to keep the stone aesthetic without the cost, stone veneer and manufactured stone are both less expensive than real stone.

Natural stone is formed in deep layers of the Earth through natural processes over thousands of years. The solid composition formations become massive rock beds, or quarries, from which miners extract them.
