"I hired Flatirons Plumbing to install a hose bib in my garage. This required them to run a pipe from the adjacent bathroom sink, through the drywall, into the garage. Flatirons was the second quote I got for this job. The competing quote was about 50% less, but the other plumber wanted to rip out a large section of drywall to find a pipe. I would have been responsible for replacing all that drywall afterwards, at unknown expense. Flatirons was able to drill a hole in the wall, with no other drywall damage. I docked one star for professionalism, because they tracked mud on my floor and did not clean it up."

"Had them replace a drain pipe in my foundation. They were timely and efficient. Price was very good as I have been through this nightmare before. Really appreciated Keith and Nico! When Keith arrived, I instantly knew I had the right guy advising me on this. Nico did a great job doing the job. Thank you both."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, pop-up drains commonly get clogged with hair, soap scum, and toothpaste. It is important to know how to properly clean the drain or get professional help to ensure it remains clear and can drain water effectively.

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.

Most clogs are resolved quickly, often within an hour. More complex issues requiring pipe disassembly might take longer.

Yes, flushing a clogged toilet can make it overflow. While flushing the toilet may push enough pressure through the system to dislodge the clog, this is unlikely. Your best bet is to use a plunger and hope the suction can break up whatever is blocking the pipe. If this doesn’t work, use a plumbing auger or call a pro to help.

Yes, chemical drain cleaners contain sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, both of which are not only dangerous to your health but also extremely caustic. Drain cleaners will corrode your pipes and could lead to destroyed drain lines, especially if the chemicals interact with the piping for long periods. Unfortunately, this extended interaction is likely if you’re dealing with a clog, as the drain cleaner will have just as much trouble as water does moving through your plumbing system.
