"Hector and his crew are excellent! They work with my schedule and they work fast while doing an excellent quality job. They turned my garage into a palace compared to how it was when I started. They reinforced the garage structure and put up drywall on the walls and created a new ceiling with new storage area above. Then the taped, textured and painted. My garage is now the nicest room in the house. Thanks Hector! - Paul V. - San Jose, CA."

Small jobs welcome

"I am very happy with Mr. Ed Martinez's work. He is a true professional at a reasonable price. Specifically, Ed skimmed several of my textured drywalls and made them as smooth as they could be. He also painted them with more than 2 paint coats as he deemed necessary (I only asked for 2). The finished products look beautiful. I rewarded him with a bonus for the great work. Mr. Martinez cares about quality and the final products clearly show that. I highly recommend him for any drywall-related work."

"I went with this company to do a Drywall installation and painting on my Tuff shed. I could not be more delighted working with this company and their employees. Polite, hard-working, prompt, efficient and professional-- just a pleasure to work with a top-rate company after having so many poor experiences with other groups. Cannot recommend them highly enough."

"Needed popcorn ceiling removed from bedrooms. The company was quick & efficient in responding to my initial inquiry on Angi. We were able to get a date scheduled quickly for the work to be done. The process was thoroughly explained and the work was done as described. Very pleased with the outcome and would hire again for other projects."

"What can I say, truly exceptional service from this company. Arrived on time (not bad considering they had to fight rush hour traffic from Patterson to Alameda). Then the foreman rang the doorbell and came in by himself while the rest of the crew waited outside to find out what I wanted done. Very thorough in asking questions. Then asked if I was ready, or if I wanted them to wait outside until I was ready (pretty cool), and I said come on in. They made a hallway out of plastic sheets to keep the dust contained and got right to work. They asked first if they could use the bathroom instead of just using it. Even starting singing at times (and they've got good voices). I had to go to work at noon, and when I came back they were gone, and I had a completed job and a clean house."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Costs depend on damage extent of damage, labor, finishing, and whether mold remediation is needed.

When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.
